No not mine - its coming down nicely.

The GPS watch thread got me thinking about weight on the wrist and its effect on the swing.
Sliding weights on a driver (25g or so) can make a difference to ball flight.
Changing a grip from a light one to a heavy one - even only 10g change - can make a club feel and play differently.
If you wear a watch during play, did you wear it at a fitting? A GPS watch weighs in at about 60g - about the same as the counterbalance weight in an Odyssey Tank. Remove this weight and the club is going to change swing weight considerably, possibly enough to make it unusable.
OK the weight isn't all on the grip but its close enough that it has to have some effect.
This could all be nonsense but it kind of makes sense to me.

Thoughts?

Centrifugal force must come into it. Not sure of the maths but I would have thought a 10 g weight in the head of a club traveling at 90+mph is going to have far more effect than a 6g watch traveling at a fraction of that speed over a metre nearer the hub of the centrifuge.

Granted - so why does a heavier or lighter grip make a difference?
If you don't normally wear a watch but start wearing 60g worth of GPS on your wrist it's the equivalent of doubling the weight of the grip....

I've always worn a watch of some sort on my left wrist, so I can't say I have ever thought about it. It must have some effect, but probably not very significantly so, due to the much shorter lever arm. :mmm:

There must be something in it.
If I wear my ultra lightweight Bushnell I tend to catch everything thin.
On the days I take my Breitling Super Avenger for a walk, we are talking "fat city".
I hadn't really thought about it before.
I must get myself something in between

Mmm, very interesting....

If you're playing a right to left dogleg, should you switch your watch onto your left wrist?

Can't believe I'm joining in this madness...

Depends how much change you have in your right pocket ;)

Yes, this has to be taken into account.
If you buy something from the pro shop for £2.00 and pay with a £5 note, always (always) put one coin in your right pocket, one in your left, and the other one down your pants to even things up a little.
Believe me, it does work.
And of course, if you lose a pound to your playing partners, make sure you give them the nice warm one that has been caressed by your nuts all the way round.
On a cold day they will thank you for it. On a hot day, nobody will stand near them in the bar
