Most clubs have a former member that has caused the club some embarrassment in the past.

The HCEG had John Poulson who was jailed along with City of Newcastle Council leader T Dan Smith for bribery and corruption.

Interesting Tarby fact - and not a mention of Terry-Thomas' cigarette holder, nor the Coombe Hill Juniors section...

The cheeky, scouse, gap toothed comic was playing a round at the Addington with his diminutive compadre, Ronnie Corbett.

Post golf, Tarby, respendent in red shoes, slouched back and rested his wearisome feet on the table.

When asked kindly to remove them from said table, he pulled the classic celeb line - "Don't you know who I am?" with a touch of temper that betrays his obvious good natured Liverpudlian charm.

"More importantly, don't you know I am?" replied the strange lady who owned the place at the time... needless to say, Tarby never played there again.
