A little bit of advice.....

put Dynamic Gold lite regular shafts in them and watch them fly- I've a set of shafts by chance I was about to put on evilbay:smirk:

It may not be the shafts.

When I got the RED Tours (as a result of someone posting a link to an unbelievable offer for LH only) I expected them to feel fundamentally the same as my R9TP with identical KBS Tour shafts.... same lofts, lies, offset etc etc etc

They felt totally alien! 500 balls later and helpful discussion with a TM marketing guy I had established they were 5 lighter in the head ( but same sw ) and just needed to get used to them. Strangely I can now pick up the old ones and hit them fine straight away - weird.

Good luck.

Why not (belatedly) take the Pro up on his offer!

At the very least, you might be able to identify a shaft that works properly for you now. And if they worked so well to start with, it's more likely something YOU are doing as opposed to the clubs, so he may well be able to identify that! Could well be a lot cheaper!

Welcome to my world....;)

The fact that I purchased my i15's straight off the shelf, regular steel, black dot etc. etc. etc. and played well with them led me to "assume" that it would be the same with the i25's.
Sadly it's not.

I don't think it's the weather conditions lads. Par 3 at Cooden yesterday, (16th hole) I usually hit a 7 iron, sometimes a 6 if the winds in your boat.
Yesterday was flat calm, nice and mild (was getting hot in my jumper) and I hit a 5 iron best that I could. Came up about 10 yards short of the green.
I know I am a pussy, but that is ridiculous. A 5 iron off that tee????
It's 152 yards downhill!!
:o

Surely a different shaft wouldn't make you up to 3 clubs shorter!?

What make did you have in your old irons and what do you have in your new ones?

My previous irons were regular graphite shafted Cobra S3's. Those weighed in at 65g. I have played with these from 2012.
My new irons have regular steel CFS shafts. These weigh in at 99g.
My previous Pings were i15's fitted with AWT regular steel shafts. I cannot find out how much they weighed, but they couldn't have been much different to the shafts fitted to my new i25's. I played with these from 2010 until 2012 when I changed to the Cobras.

Checking the Ping website, the lofts, lies, swingweights, shaft length etc. of the two sets of irons are identical.

Whilst I appreciate that I was going to notice a difference going back to steel from graphite, I "assumed" that because I had played perfectly ok with my steel shafted i15's, then choosing the new i25's in steel wouldn't be too much of a problem.
As I say, these new steel shafts feel "dead" in my hands. My previous steel shafts (in the i15's) didn't. I felt comfortable with those from the off.
Surely my swing hasn't changed THAT much in just over two years???

Noticed the Cobras are 2* stronger across pretty much all the irons compared to the i25's so I guess that's a club more i guess.

Nowhere local to you that has a launch monitor you could use to see what numbers you get out of them?

No Bozza. I know that the Cobras are stronger, but as I say the lofts of the new clubs are exactly the same as my previous i15's and I didn't have this problem with them. I can accept one club shorter, not a problem. I am past the stage where my ego needs to tell me that I only hit a 7 iron where my mates hit a 6. But as I keep saying, it's the "dead" feel in my hands. I am assuming that comes from the extra weight of the steel shafts over my previous graphite ones where I can't "feel" the head.
I know I have made a mistake here, we all do from time to time and I've been a bit impetuous buying without trying. Not the first time I've been caught out in the past.
I love the look of them, that's what attracted me to them in the first place, and I've always purchased clubs on what they look like.
I think my only option is to move them on quickly and suffer as small a loss as I can and either buy them all over again in graphite or look at something else, but as I say, I would rather stay with the i25's if I can.
If I can get £350.00 for these (someone looking at a new set is going to get a bargain) my manager still owes me £125.00 for my old Cobras. That will give me £475.00 to start again.
I'm a knob, I know
:o

I am playing at Blackmoor on Sunday with Richart, and Steve the pro down there is a Ping stockist will full fitting facilities. I am going to get there early with Rich and have a chat with him to see what he suggests is the cheapest way out of the mistake I've made and discuss the alternatives.

Smiffy, the clubs heads will be fine, it's probably just that with your silky smooth swing you're not able to get enough energy into the shaft. Are you too far to pop over to me (Lincoln area)? I fitted myself with a little advice from my pro with my i25s and got good results. He's a ping custom fitter so has all the kit so I borrowed a collection of shafts and found which gave me the optimal launch I was looking for. This was on my system, different dots are balls hit with different shafts but all are with i25s.

If you wanted we could pinch some of the more flexible shafts from my pro, have a play and work out which fits you best. Then get him to send them off to Ping for a shaft change and Ping can send back to you. You can then sell your current shafts to offset the cost of the new ones. Whole thing would probably only take a week and cost very little. Just a thought.

Just read this bit, guessing you can do what I suggested above with him :)

Thanks for the offer Nosevi, but I've made my mind up which way I'm going. I've looked into the cost of replacement shafts and I'm not going to get much change out of about £350-£400.00 taking the cost of the shafts, new grips and labour into account. Not worth it mate.
I will sell these for £350.00 (I've got somebody interested in them already) and put it down to experience.
With my bosses £125.00 he still owes me on my old Cobra's that will give me £475.00 to clear off the 0% finance I took out on these and go for a new set of i25's with graphite. In the long run that will work out cheaper than changing out the shafts.
So if you hear of anyone looking for a nice set of almost new i25's for £350.00 let me know. That's a saving of nearly £200.00 on a brand new set, and these are like new.
Cheapest I have seen these on ebay for is well over £400.00 and that's for some "well used" examples.
Thanks again for your suggestion though
