What does your wife/husband/partner do to help or hinder your fixation with golf (& before you say you’re not fixated you are a member of an online golf forum!)
(there is a 3rd option where they basically ignore your hobby)

i.e My wife will often get up early (5:30am) and make bacon rolls for me to take for my 4-ball. She’s also happy for me to drone on to her about how my round went when I get home and it’s not unusual for her to drop me off at a meeting spot if I’m travelling in someone else’s car. I think she goes above and beyond in supporting my golf and I’ve no doubt I don’t deserve it all

As another example Homer has told us previously that his wife cleans his golf shoes for him

But some partners might not love the idea of losing their significant other for 6+ hours once or twice a week & maybe they schedule stuff for Saturdays mornings just so you can’t play!

So what does your other half do, help or hinder?

Mine will often talk me down from the roof when I'm contemplating jumping and constantly tell me it's fun, go back to enjoying it.

Other than that sod all.

Sometimes caddies for me. Often takes me into golf shops and buys polo shirts - nice Adidas one yesterday. She took me to a golf club yesterday and said, "why don't you join here?"

The down side is she often wants to put the golf on the TV at the weekends- unless it's a Major or Ryder Cup I'd sooner watch paint dry. She'll tell you who is who's caddy and who they used to caddy for. Which player is married to which player's sister etc.

Yeah I forgot about the shopping thing. When she's in town she'll always have one eye open for any good deals on golf tops/shorts etc (& I watched 7 hours of the BMW Int yesterday :))

My wife is an ex county junior golfer and national league hockey player - the support for sport mainly comes from me because she is playing at the highest level and it's stressful at times. To help her relax she will come for a game with me , has caddied for me at times , buys me golf stuff.

When i first started playing she said I would become a good player and now she is my number one fan - always boasts to her family ( she has a few golfers in it ) and it's interesting at family get togethers when we always arrange inter family matches ( im still unbeaten :D ). We both keep any newspaper clippings from both our sports as keepsakes to show future family.

We both sit down and watch the major golf comps

She is massive help for my golf.

Not allowed to watch golf on TV when she's there, well not if I want to hear it over the heavy breathing and grumbling. Used to play pitch and putt with her until I stated to take it too seriously, we don't do that anymore. Fortunately she works every Saturday so I can usually get out, but I probably stir the pot a little when I plan a fishing trip for the odd Sunday too...

Get sky go on the tablet, she has the big tele and I have the iPad with the ear phones in one ear - win/win

Ave just asked her does she help or hinder, whilst she is knitting.

She he said sorry "what was the question again". not Flippin interested one bit. Unless she can drive the buggy around the course (like miss daisy) when we are on holiday.

My missus quite enjoys getting involved in it, she'll happily come to the driving range with me and took it upon herself to buy her own club!
She asks how i've played when I do and in summer sometimes in the evenings she'll come walk round whilst I play 9 holes, she enjoys pushing the trolley! :D

Fortunately for me she works Saturdays so I always get to play that day but sometimes comps will fall on a Sunday, depending on how i've behaved i'll ask her if I can play first thing in the morning, sometimes it's a yes, sometimes a no!

Quite lucky in that she knows that its an important hobby and encourages me to play if I can!

Always supportive (unless I start playing four times a week.. ), Has even taken up the game in the last few months as a complete novice and is enjoying it.
Our club has helped with a great membership deal for her as well.

My wife is fairly accommodating and tolerates it to a degree.

Bought me a new iCart trolley for fathers day which was really appreciated.

The only problem she has in general is me disappearing all day Saturday, Id love to play every weekend and enter all the club comps but its just too time consuming with a young(ish) family. Its a shame as we won 2 weeks ago in a 2BBB

My frustration comes in where to get my handicap down from 14 or get some decent stableford points takes a lot of practice and I just dont have the time. 34 points this weekend with 2 lost balls and 5 3 putts!

If I start talking golf she just glazes over.

my Mrs has mastered the art of seeming/looking interested in my tales of woe of missed birdie putts, unlucky bounces and unlucky lies in bunkers, when I know she doesn't really give two hoots.

however, ive made the later stages of our club championships in the last two years, and each time she has started her work early and finished early to accommodate my fixed tee-time ties, going above and beyond to make sure I can chase a ball around a field because she knows its important to me.

I would do the same for her in a minute, but I dont think they do club championships for shopping, ironing or housework :D

However I do believe there is a club champs for a women's ability to 'Scud-yer-lug' so better hope she doesn't read your post!

Mrs Chucker is tremendous. Puts up with any moans and loves to share in the good times. Doesn't play anymore but has a good understanding of the game and is very supportive. I do the same with her interests such as sailing and like to hear about her latest race etc.

I got my wife into playing golf, as I like to spend time with her, shes sadly not very sportie but good company and doesn't know if she likes it or not.

When myself and my son talk about golf, you can see the shutters coming down:)

So she is great and a help as a result.

My Wife's always a help.. Got her into golf about 2 years ago and she loves it!

Having a young family is great.. as both my boys also play golf.

Wife and I will never be the next PGA pro, and would not want to, we literally love the family time playing and have a very understanding club who have no issues with us both playing in club comps with a boy in tow "caddying"
My boys have learnt so many rules and etiquette whilst out with us

See I think that's awesome , HID will often go for long walks up on the downs if it's a nice night after work to shut down from work while I go to the range. I've suggested why doesn't she come for a 9 hole walk, nice scenery, ducks deers etc, nice quiet country air but she just doesn't seem keen.

I reckon she's off doggin while I'm at the range

BB (before baby) I had the life.

When we lived in Hampshire she worked evenings and weekends as a waitress so I played golf 5 days a week! That explains my 1st handicap of 17 and dropping to 12 by my 2nd summers end.

She would let me play whenever I wanted and it was great. All downhill after 2011 though. Two years was all I had before work situation became "inconsistent" for at least one of us at a time for the next 5 years. It settled down just in time for us to start a new journey with our baby boy.

I am only now just getting Sunday morning free frequently enough to hit the par 3 course. I'm way too tired to go for 18 still unless I take a day off work like today.
