It's stableford NOT stapleford

Only illiterate Americans 'game' clubs

The first 9 holes are the front 9 and the 2nd 9 holes are the back 9. I have no idea what your 'frontside' is and you sit on your 'backside'

We start a hole from the tee or teeing ground not the 'teebox'

Feel free to add your own and remember, this is just a bit of fun ;)

...those do it for me! and...

- There is no event called "The British Open."
- If you "Airmail" a green, how do the Post Office get it on the scales?
- Can tall players "short-side" themselves?
- Is it a "sand trap" if you can still get to the green 200 yards away?

This one gets on my moobs. Until recently, we had tee boxes on our tees, marked with distance, stroke index etc. They originally contained sand which was used to tee up the ball before the advent of wooden & plastic tees. People who use this expression rarely know what they are referring to.

People who shout "fore right!" or "fore left!" are imitating the television, where players have a gallery & spectators need to know which way it goes. In the kind of golf we play a simple "fore!" is enough to get everyone ducking.

Yeah the right/left thing is never helpful. You spend 15 seconds trying to work out which direction the shout came from and where you are standing in relation to them, and by that time the ball has already clocked you on the head. Just shout 'fore' and everyone ducks - simple. :D

Its the Open not the British open!
Its a Bunker not a Sandtrap!

Metal wood that one always bug's me!
Recovery wood - what on earth is that! what do I need to recover from 200+ yards from the hole!

Yeah I can't get on board with 'fairway metal' rather than wood. It's a wood. That's just what it's called. It doesn't matter that it's not made of wood. Pitching wedges are used from much further distances than what would be described as a 'pitch' but they haven't renamed them. A wood is a wood!

I agree with most of these but there are some I don't understand.

A fairway metal is fine in my book as it isn't made of wood and a pin goes in a hole which is located on the green so hole location is also fine for me.

A tee in american is mainly rectangular so could be called a box.......

So when remembering that "It's just a bit of fun" you manage to drag the joy out of your own thread by denouncing others.. Touche sir. Touche.

With D4S here, most, bar the commentary ones, don't irritate me at all.

I'm hoping I golf a ball around the frontside, avoiding sand traps off the tee box. If the hole locations are favourable I might be able to game it at my best.

What are you getting at? All I said is that I don't understand why some people find certain things (which are actually logical) annoying. It wasn't a criticism just a comment :mmm:
