Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a Dilemma on my hands. i'm now 18 and coming back into golf again after a bit of a wobbly patch in my teens. I am about to join a club.

Now the dilemma... about 8 years ago I was lucky enough to be a member of Chart Hills golf club. For those who don't know it's a faldo designed course based on his favourite 18 holes from around the world. Amazing facilities, an all grass driving range, practice holes, halfway house, the whole lot.

after being a member here I was a member at a local course which is still very decent and i'm sure above my skill level. ( it's also 3 miles away rather than 10 miles away like Chart hills) but I think chart hills spoilt me a bit.

I now have a car and can go to either one, but being in my last year of full time education money is pretty tight.

Should I join the local course for £150 and save/ spend the rest on lessons and gear, or join Chart Hills for £650 ( which is a good deal considering a full 7 day membership for over 35's would be over 2.5k

Thanks,

Sorry if i rambled on a tad...

It is very simple and only you can answer the question........join the club that you will be happiest at.

Good luck

Join which ever club will give you the most enjoyment for your money

Is the correct answer. No point joining anywhere any feeling like you won't enjoy it.

Join the one which fits your needs best, so you play as much as you want when you want. I joined the best club in the area at similar age but it was so cliquey and many members stuck up the own.... That I ended up hardly playing as I couldn't get a game in comps.

Thanks guys, I think I'm just gonna have to think about it, I also just realised that it'll only be £600 for a year at Chart Hills and then after that year it'll go up to over a grand since I won't be in education anymore.

Gonna have a week or two to think about it. Thanks for the replies everyone!

Why not join chart hills for the year and see how life pans out? If not then move after? You are on the age bracket where clubs are falling over for new young blood, could always try and get a better deal later?

As others have said though join where you will get the most from the club, not just the best course. Enjoyment is key.

Good luck.

You're 18. Buy a guitar and a leather jacket. Meet some ladies.. Trust me, when you're 40, you won't be looking back thinking that you wish you'd played more golf...:D
