Can't tell you how chuffed I am for Matt. He's a member at my club Hallamshire and you couldn't wish to meet a nicer lad.
I was with him last Friday night and he was saying he expected to wake up and discover he'd dreamt qualifying for the open. Instead he drove up Saturday with his mum, dad and brother (Alex who's 14 and now plays off 2!)
He's had practice rounds with Hunter Mahan, Ricky Fowler, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood & Tom Watson.
Then to cap it all playing with Fred Couples today and winning the silver medal.
We're all so proud of him and can't wait for the presentation later. Fingers crossed for Westwood to win as well to see a Worksop and Sheffield pair on the 18th green getting the silver and gold medals.

Yes Jimmy Mullen is an amateur too. He's done fantastically well and wins the bronze medal.
There's been some great banter on twitter between Hallamshire GC and Royal North Devon - Jimmy Mullen's club. They've been talking the Michael over the announcement yesterday by Hallamshire, broadcast by the BBC that we're having a free finger buffet at 4pm to celebrate Matt's success!! All a bit of fun
