Played in the 2nd round of our final 'major' of the season.... having carded a nett 69 in the opening round I knew I would probably have to go a couple of shots better to win it. I had come third in the same competition twelve months previously with a two-round 136, losing out by one shot.

Today I played perhaps the best golf I've ever played, shooting a gross 79/nett 64, and for the first time ever I managed to break 80!

Today I also managed to post three birdies on the card... the first time I've ever managed it. I've had plenty of dual-birdies on my card in a round, but never three.

Today I'm also in line to win my first board competition, my two-round total of 133 currently sitting 4 shots clear. I'm not getting ahead of myself though, as there were still groups on the course to come in.

That £25 I spent on a lesson with my pro in midweek in a bid to halt a slump of four straight NRs seems to have been money well spent. :D

Well done! Good luck and fingers crossed for you. Always nervy waiting for the last groups to come in but 4 shots ahead sounds pretty good.

Let us know how it pans out

Thanks all. :)

Been threatening to do this a few times this season on my earlier season form, but wouldn't have dreamed of this last month as I was so out of form with four straight NRs leading up to this weekend.

Lesson on Thursday really helped light a spark, hopefully I can build on it now and prove it isn't just a flash in the pan.
