A couple of firsts for me today

Nothing special for anyone but me to get excited about but I managed to get a couple of monkey's off my back today. Both firsts at my new club, my 1st cut and my 1st time breaking 80 (just). I'm not sure what the cut will be but it'll be either .4 or .6 depending on CSS but either way my playing h'cap is back to 11.

I thought I'd blown it after sloppy doubles on 15 & 16 took me from +6 to +10 but I managed to steady the ship with a good save for par on 17 and set myself a target of birdie on 18 which I duely made for a 79 (+9). Not the best round of my life but after blowing it from a similar position yesterday when I made two trebles on the back nine on my way to 14 over it was good to bounce back and keep it together today.

Great positive play there. The pressure mounted up and you could have crumbled but you didn't. Well played and well done!

To be fair he made a great 12 footer at the last for the birdie to give him a 79 and struck it pretty well all day. It could/should have been lower apart from a shanked iron OB at the 2nd which was probably the real bad shot of the day. His short game was pretty decent and his driving was really solid. All was good until the eejit gets himself cut before the big pairs event next Sunday (have you got that Mike - Sunday and not Monday).

Well done Hawkeye. Very good. If you were 6 over (gross) after 14 holes, that's jolly good. 15 sounds disappointing but 16 is understandable....
Anyhow, 79 is good and a great milestone.

Hoping for a 0.4 cut myself after shooting a 4 over gross today which included 3 double bogies!!!!.

4 birdies helped steady the ship......if only I could keep those pesky doubles away..........

4 over is good shooting my friend, very good shooting. I'm still dreaming of numbers like that.

Those double bogeys are a killer aren't they, I haven't shot more than 2 over my h'cap since March 6th and in every round I've had three kr four doubles or triples which have cost me.

Indeed they are!! I've got a course record round in me if I could just keep them off.
Had a great day today where we won the Texas Scramble with 9 birdies. I sunk 3 monster putts and chipped in from off the green 3 times. Can't help thinking a great score is just around the corner.
