A Ball for Long AND Short Game Question!

Im an 11 handicapper and have a natural slice. It used to be a huge banana, now it is just a gentle movement. Most of the time! I have spent time trying to fix it and found a solution which works 50% of the time, the rest of them are duck-hooks or massive pulls. I think id rather stay with my gentle slice which at worst is a moderate slice but at least i know what its going to do and so can aim appropriately. I know I can shave 5-6 shots per round by sorting out my abysmal short game.

My question is what would be the ideal ball for this? I know using a premium ball would give me better feel around the greens, but at the same time I presume the extra spin these balls create also exacerbates the slice-spin I get off the tee?

Being that I am happy (for the time being at any rate) with getting the slice off the tee, I want a ball which minimises this, but also isnt like hitting rocks from 30yards in. Knowing my game, I would rather a ball which really helps out my short game, even at the expense of my long game accuracy, but some middle ground would be perfect! Any info on this would be good - even if it is to say to me that the ball makes very little difference to either problem I have and its just practise that will sort it out!

Thanks

All the premium balls are designed to spin less from the tee.
If you compare a ProV1x and, say, the NXT you'd expect the NXT to spin considerably less off the tee........but it doesn't! There's virtually nothing in it, certainly not enough to makes a difference with our inconsistent ball striking.
Some thing in the mid-range - NXT Tour/AD333Tour/ChromeSoft are all good balls, all long and lowish spin off the tee and all soft and Spinny enough for short game control.

I use e6 and totally agree with the way they help hooks and slices.

i will say though that around the green they are nowhere near as spinny as I'd like. (I borrowed a prov1x on Friday and wa amazed at how they back up beautifully)

for me, given my errant tee shots currently, I am happy enough with the e6 but once I am more consistent off the tee I'll be changing to titleist quickly - there's a reason most pros play them and you get what you pay for (as in all walks of life!!)

I played a z star today. What an excellent ball. Long off the tee and lots of check on chips and pitches

I've only had the one split on me Steve.

For the price, the Chrome+ is great. Give me good distance and plenty of control.

Lucky you :) i stopped counting at 15 lol. They sent me a dozen supersoft but these have a similar think cover and I expect the same problem. bought some TP x on the last deal that was posted, time to give them a try :)

Bridgestone E6 everytime.

When you are good enough to want to work the ball off the tee, from the fairway and round the greens then the decision becomes harder! As a working example of this - if it's OOB all down the right of a par 5 do you

1. Set up to hit a draw out right and back from the OOB margin?
2. Tee up to the right and aim left?
3. Tee up left and aim down the left?
4. Just aim for the last fairway!

If 1 then give the E6 a miss - all the others; buy a box and give them a go.

I'm currently playing the Callaway Hex Chrome+ with a view to trying the Z-Star.

Love the Chrome+ though.

I've been using the hex chrome for the last 2 years and it's a great ball. But I'll be looking out for z star deals

What you need is a Penfold Heart or Penfold Commando. :)

e6 and Wilson DX2 are very good imo.
