Went to Titleist at Brampton today for a 909 driver fitting. TBH I was a bit dubious, as my driving has been off of late, so I was a bit worried I would end up with a shaft with a dog leg in it, with the head on backwards as the ideal fit, or worse still, a Dcomp.
So I hit my current 907 D1 a few times, and even when I middled it, the fitter thought I looked like I was trying to make it work. Most though had a bit of a drift to the right.
Anyway, we had quite a structured session, and each variant I tried showed better results. My main issue is way too much back spin, 4500rpm plus.
At the end of the session, we agreed on a specification, and it was something I would never have thought of myself, but worked really well. Now, given most golfers are told they should play with more loft, and I hit already a 9.5 degree, this is what fits me best:

909D2 8.5 degree, Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff.

Now I tied a 909D2 9.5 with a Voodoo stiff in Florida (which is what caused me to loose faith in my driver in the first place), and thought I hit it well. However, the above spec was amazing. The ball had massive hang time, a really nice flight, and was reasonably straight. Felt very solid to hit too, and easy.

The upshot of this is, it arrives mid week, and I can't wait.

Wonder what it will cost?

Good luck mate but I wouldnt hold your breath, would never ever go back to Titleist for a fitting.

Enjoy your new toy.

Glad it went well Murph.

I just cant hit any Driver at the mo, all slice horribly.

So, today I took out a very old Callaway War Bird 2 Wood that I remembered was in the garage rafters, and absolutely nailed the thing. :D

Small head, old shaft, but just worked. Even hit our 469yd Par4 16th with a Drive & 5 iron, so needless to say, it is staying in my bag again.

HNJ, thanks for the best wishes, but what you have to bear in mind is that some clubs/manufacturers suit some and not others. I tried out a c/f Cobra L4V when they came out, and I could have hit a 4i further than the best fit they could come up with. However, I have played with a few guys since, who have hit these miles. It just wouldn't work for me. Hopefully the 909 will work, and although you like Ping, maybe that would be no good for me either. Each to their own, but as I said above, thanks for the best wishes, and I too hope it goes as it did in the c/f session. If it does, I will be more than happy.
