9/11 offer...bad taste?

I think this is an example of the modern trend for outrage at everything, and it is getting out of hand.

I don't see why people should see this as disrespectful. If anyone does, they should protest by playing golf elsewhere.

Well it is the land of the free!

I wonder if there would be outrage if the offer was free.
He won't be making much money on $9 for 9 holes.

Must be a real goat track at that price. That's just plain disrespectful !! If it was a decent course maybe not:D

I fail to see the connection, you could argue that's its profiteering but not really sure it's worth a mention on sky news

+1. Though I'm a bit dubious about the 'reduced membership' deal that as offered.

I can remember exactly where I was that day - winning the final of a knockout tournament at Dalmahoy. Quite chaotic but the oppo made a fairly profound statement - 'That puts a loss at golf into perspective!'

Just under 3000 people killed!

I came in from walking the dog, switched on the telly to see the planes flying into the towers and immediately thought
'whats a rubbish 'B' movie doing on the telly at this time of day'.

Horrible horrible day and a pretty sick way of advertising. I remember waking up a seeing it on the news when I turned on the TV. Fell asleep again for about 5 minutes then woke up bolt upright thinking was that real? Broke down when watching the news and memories of what had happen in my town 3 years before came flooding back.

Would it have been considered bad taste if all course fees had gone to charity?

Crazy that the owner of the course has received death threats too, clearly those who felt aggrieved at this advert are quite comfortable lowering themselves to the same level as those individuals who planned and carried out the original attacks 12 years ago. The world we live in is sad and mad in equal measure.

Possibly not in the best taste but if it has run for 2 years previously without issue then I can't see why he wouldn't do it again or what has caused the problem.

I was playing at Mid Kent, I was a late replacement for a guy who had to work, he was BA cabin crew. Walked into the bar to see the continuous loop of the planes going into the Twin Towers and just went cold.

Could be a bit of Michael O'Leary / Ryanair-style advertising going on. Spark controversy to attract media attention and use it as cheap & effective PR.

In general I'm not one for 'celebrating' the anniversary of an event every year.

So for instance I think that now that the Liverpool fans have been exonerated over Hillsborough (though investigations into police activity are still ongoing) I think that the 25th anniversary on 15th April 2014 should be the point at which a line is drawn under annual commemoration (inc. black arm bands and minutes silence/applause at matches and other fussing in football that goes on around that date). I'm not being heartless - and we must not forget and will not forget - but annual rememberance is best limited to 11/11. Everything else (Hillsborough included) tends to become a bit maudlin and self-conscious.

I've always struggled with people giving out death threats to anything just seems an odd thing to do
