$800 for a wedge!!!!!

I don't really know much about PXG but how do they justify charging so much? Do many tour players even use their clubs? No one on this forum seems to that I've seen. So who is buying them at these prices?

So who is buying them at these prices?

I was overtaken by someone in a Bentley 4 x 4 last week. I'm betting someone like that would have a set of these.

They are not for normal people. They are for the very rich, not just rich, the members of exclusive golf clubs, the show off MD etc. I'd be amazed if I ever see one in the flesh as I don't mix in those circles.

These are marketed in the USA really as social status clubs for people to show off they can afford them. I live in Phoenix that is definitely one of the USA's biggest golfing areas and have not seen a single PXG Club in anyone's bag even in the ritzier Scottsdale area.

No doubt there is some market for them but if you are going to pay that money for them I think you better have the game to back it up!

I haven't seen any here in the UK, but have seen them in a golf store whilst over in Spain earlier this year where the iron sets started at something like 2,500 Euros

Personally I am not a fan of them, and that is without considering the price, but at the price they are I would never buy them anyway

In truth, its the best thing they make. When I tried them they were really lovely. At that time, and maybe still there were only stock bounce options.

I think the words "Clothes", "New" and "Emperor's" spring to mind.
The comparison between cars isn't valid - a trip from A to B in a Bentley is going to be a far superior experience than the same trip in a Ford Escort.
Hitting a PXG wedge won't be much different to any of the other wedges on the market.
Clubs for people with waay more money than sense and/or an ego that needs to be boosted on a regular basis.

Why do people get so upset about the price of clubs (or anything else for that matter) and label those who buy them either "more money than sense" "show-off's", "on an ego trip" etc.

Their money, their choice, they want them, they buy them

Vinnie Jones did a stint in the commentary box at the Super Sixes last weekend and was very smug in announcing (without being asked) that he played PXG clubs. A status symbol, nothing more. They seem to have done a better job of being an overpriced manufacturer breaking into the mainstream than the likes of Muira et al.

Absolutely - no problem with that.
But why are they buying them..?
They're a "look at me" purchase, unlikely to make them play better

Probably not.

I'm sure you are right that for some it may well be a "look at me" purchase but for others it could be "I like them, I can afford them, I will buy them"

Because we are human beings and we seek reason and logic in everything we come across. We would be animals otherwise
