78 Today

Wasn't planning on golfing today but got up and nothing doing on the family front - decided to play and shot my second-best round ever - and it could have been a chunk better - 4 birdies, a tripple bogey, double bogey and 5 short (4-7 footers missed on very friendly greens!!) and 10-footer

1 over on the front 9 with a double bogey at the third (good strike, left of hole pin high - fluffed chip), bogeyed 6 after great drive, 9 iron left of green and missed a 4-foot put, missed another 4-foot put on 9. 3 birdies

5 over back. Great drive down 10, crap 8 iron, missed a 5-footer. 11 - great drive, green just in range, nobbed it 110 with a 3 wood, pulled a 9 iron left (this shot cost me a few today), missed a 5-footer. 13 - Duffed 3 wood in water at 13, crap next shot, and next - missed a 10 footer and ended with tripple bogey. 16 - crap drive - missed a 7-footer and ended up with a bogey. Birdied 17 and pared 18.

Lots of good in there but, apart from 13 when it was all crap, I lost shots after being in A1 position with an 8 or 9 in my hand

Feel really happy with today despite it being a real chance of a level-par round. Roll on Hankley Common on Tuesday
