There is a 4 ball of guys from my club playing tomorrow in a 72 hole golf marathon to raise money for MacMillan cancer care. They are starting at 0500 (so they are back round before 9 when there is a society on the first) and have to fit in 4 rounds during the day, whilst also avoiding the afternoon society (nice of the club to give them priority).
They have raised about a grand so far, which is good, and I am sure it will go up from there.

I think they are completely mad. 72 holes in a day is going to be tough, even with powacaddies (they have been amassing batteries like crazy). Bet they don't play on Saturday.

Hope it doesn't rain too.

I did last week. timings sound similar but we were fitted around the seniors and then the ladies. It was great fun. I carried for the first 2 rounds then pulled a trolley for the last 2. I was a bit stiff the next day and didnt play the next day but my dad played a match which went down the 19th before he won it.
We have raised approx £2100 for the charity and a few people are still chipping in.

I once managed 63 in a day (when I was 15) whilst carrying.
We only missed the last 9 as it started to pour.

Wouldn't even attempt it now though!!

Hope they manage it OK!!

I love a good charity event, this ine sounds boss. We raised £2500 walking up snowdon last year and were are doing the Wirral Coastal Walk this august.

Next year I hope to do something golf orientated!

I wish them the best of luck!
