For the first time in my golfing life I feel I am capable of a round in the 70s off the yellows, maybe even off the whites but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

I managed today a neat(ish) PB of 81... It included 3 off the tee three times and a holing out from 150 yards for a 4 (one of said 3 off the tees).

I started off with three doubles in 7 holes then picked up a few bogeys by hole 11 to go 9 over. From then on I parred my way home including the 150 yard holed shot to shoot a back 9 of +1 gross and a round of 81 (9 over, previous PB was +10).

All I need to do is not lose a couple of balls off the tee and it will come. The last 7 holes were so easy, stand up, hit the ball, putt up and tap in a par.

Tomorrow I head out for another 18, cometh the man cometh the hour!

Bet you don't know what you were doing that made the last 7 so easy!

Don't go out expecting to do the same again though! That normally results in a 95-100+!

And don't think about the balls you lost either - that's a sure-fire way to send another one there!

Great game eh!

Actually I do!

I had a lesson last Sunday and my Pro predicted a round in the 70s very soon, I was just peppering a pin all lesson long. It took the 11 holes to properly come out on the course after a week of practice but when it did I peppered the pins on the course.

I would have said the highlight was the holed shot from 150 but a 4 iron from deep rough to find the green from 180 into the wind was just as spectacular. If I can take my lesson improvements through tomorrow then I will shoot in the 70s with easy, worst low 80s again.

I also cannot wait for my singles matchplay knockout match soon, bring it on baby!

One confidence inspiring thing was all lost balls led to a par or better with the second ball, just have to do it all "first time"!

so if you were peppering the pin did you hole all the putts? ;)

Our greens are a state, they look like a bombing range! I lipped out/grazed the edge from 6-10 feet on holes 14-17! I just focussed on getting the distance and left each one was a tap in par!

Had an 82 PB the other week and was 3 over par on the front 9, went out a few rounds later and shot 100.

If only golf was a simple game.

Really wanted to break 80 this year, a few weeks ago I thought it was a given but now......

This is going to end in tears.
Not being negative, I do it to myself after good rounds!

Hopefully I can prove you wrong, but in the end golf is only a game and I won't shed a tear even if I shoot 120.

I have had 5 rounds in a row in the 80s now, I feel like its building to something.

I'll re-phrase... Try not to expect it! After re-reading my posts they do seem a bit, down. Try not to force anything because things might not have been as easy as your last 5 holes. Different day and all that. Good luck.

Feeling rejuvenated by a new set of custom fitted clubs. More confidence in a big dog I can trust and feel the bigger G25 heads will help me more. Will I shoot low. I hope so but I still have to put a good swing on it. I feel like I am getting close to a good score and maybe the shiny fairy dust that comes with new bats will help me get it. Monday in the Nike pairs would be a good place to start

Go out and give it a shot, the worst that can happen is you lose a few balls and go back to more practice. Better to try than sit at home wondering!

Well no 70s today.

I could list excuses like the greens were terrible (even though they are) but really I just played too defensive.

I went out with a game plan to hit mainly 3 irons off the tee, I hit a poor one on the second and rocked back to a 4 iron off the tee instead, just trying to keep the ball on the fairway. At one point I took a 5 iron off the tee on a par 4! I was hitting the ball well but always aiming or playing too defensive. The consequence was an 88, 9 more than my target. I was just tapping in for a bogey rather than a par.

I have learnt a lot about course management today, I know I took it too far and paid the price. Only when I found a balance half way through the back 9 I started having birdie chances. When I did hit my driver or 3 wood I hit it well from the tee, a bit more of that and I could have been a lot closer to my target.

I still feel my game is building to something special, if not next weekend then the one after. (As long as the greens don't get any worse, apparently we are losing members by the bucket because of them)
