Something I have never seen before in 59 years playing golf.

One of our Seniors (27 handicap and plays 2 qualifiers a week) is known to be a very big hitter but normally pretty wayward. Today, on our 5th hole (a 503 yard par 5, SI8), he scored 2 for 0 for 7 points. They never saw the ball go in the hole - it was from 240 yards away - but there it was sitting in the hole.

Not content with that, he also had a 2 on the 8th hole (a 304 yard par 4) but that was only 2 for 1 for 5 points (he sunk a wedge from 120 yards). He got chopped 1 shot as, apart from 12 points on 2 holes, he only scored 26 on the remaining 16 holes.

I hope he was drugs tested ?

Its a one off - everyone will have a few glory shots.

It's tempting to suggest they a 27 handicapper reaching a 500+ yards par 5 in two shots is playing off the wrong handicap....

His putting must be rank rotten!

:D

Fair play everyone hits shots like that every once and a while. Better still i saw a 26 handicapper at mine out with his Bushnell at least 240 to the flag into a 3 club wind trying to get a distance, his drive had only went 160 yards , he said before he went to when was i out i said before him his reply was at leaf i wouldn't hold him up, what a sasij.

I played with a 21 h/capper who from thick rough and 300yds away with a strong wind into his face, threw grass up to test the wind:eek::eek:

So based on the title of the thread they'd prefer he'd only have shot 30 points with two nett holes in one?

the guy needs to calm it down. if he has the skill to strike the ball as well as that. with a touch of course management, he could get that handicap cut easily.

The gods of golf give but they also take away.

Today in a Medal round, the same player, on our 15th with a devilishly difficult pin placement, racked up a score of 23 for the hole. He didn't get chopped this time, even with a stableford adjustment of 15.

this guy is a joker! no difficult pin placement would make anyone rack up 23! what did he do? hit 5 into water going for the flag time after time!

no one who was actually trying would ever do this. see John Daly for details! :swing:

Christ!! I've had some high ones but that takes the biscuit! How on earth do you mange that! I actually managed an 11 the other week! First double digit in a long time! 3 three off the tee to start with and then had to chip it back on to the fairway on a long par 5. Thought that was a horror show.
