7/7 Anniversary

i took a minute out of my morning to sit in silence on the train at Cannon Street at just before 9am
my old companies building had the tube lines running under it and we felt the blast from the Aldgate bomb - at first we were told it was a power surge but then the real reason came out. we were on total lock down until about 3pm

I was playing Golf at Dartmouth G&CC when it happened, my phone went off and it was one of my Daughters who told me about it, our other Daughter lives in London and she had not been able to contact her. After some desperate phone calls I eventually got a reply from her and she was unaware of what had happened as she had slept in. What a relief.

All phone networks in the area were 'frozen'! That was one of the reasons why the 'electrical fault' provided by (and no doubt to) Underground staff didn't ring true!

Missis T was on about it yesterday, she has joined Facebook and one of the medical secretaries lost her husband.

I was walking over aldgate station when it went off... again was told it was a power surge and carried on past to work. Within the hour it was on the news what had happened and we were also on lockdown until around 3pm. The police made safe roads back to cannon street and London bridge which we followed and got the train home to Kent. Sad days.

Unfortunately not the only bombs I've come across in my years in the finance industry, the only one to have been detonated though.

Hmm!

Daughter #1 works in Central London. Some days she walks to work, other days the Tube and occasionally on the bus. That day was a walking day. It took many hours to finally get hold of her.

Not forgotten in our household.

Hmmm indeed... I had 3 consecutive Fridays a few years back with bomb threats in our building. Every time complete evacuation, sniffer dogs, the whole works.... rumours on who was involved, frightening people.
