I know some people rattle at the thought of using them.... Just last week was the first time i ever had one in the bag although i didnt get to use it a whole pile... But today was a different story.....
To cut a long story short a junior at our club had no putter a few months ago and seeing as i had left my 2 ball in the club shop in the hope of someone maybe liking and purchasing it i told her to work away with it... I wasnt in need of it and at least someone would have use of it.... So i amble in before the round last week and see how she was getting on with it only to be told by her dad who runs the shop that it was stolen from her bag.... Clearly she was upset but there was no harm done so i told her not to worry...
I was eyeballing this 2nd hand 60 deg Vokey on the rack... In decent nick and her dad said to take it away in replacement for the putter....As i only carried a 52 and 56 i thought this would fit the bill....
Now im not one that runs from wedges... I practice with them a lot and im fairly confident in my short game..... Today that wedge got me out of a lot of trouble making pars on 2 holes that i was blocked by tall trees from.....
A full hit was 60 mtrs max... Thats fine...

But.....
It cost me a few shots also..... The downside as shallow as my swing has become i chunked it twice..... From about 50 mtrs....When i looked again there is only 4 degrees of bounce on it.... Im thinking this is a little less than what i should have on it as my 56 is 10 and my 52 is 8.....
Out of bunkers its good and around the green its absolute magic..... But should i drop it and get one with more bounce for the odd steep swing that im likely to put on it at times......

I am slowly learning to keep it in the bag for anything requiring a big swing. Around the greens though and it is great. If you'r issue is with full shots but fine with it elsewhere I'd stick with it and use the 56 or 52 with 3/4 and 1/2 swings to fill in where the full swing 60* would be a temptation. I mean you haven't really missed the 60* so far this year have you?

Thought more bounce was needed. Glad you like it though.

Pal.... If you saw the bunkers i was hitting out if today...... If i was of the visually impaired nature i would have thought that i was on asphalt...... The 4 degrees was perfect...... There was about 1/2" of sand on top of granite....

At my own course i wouldnt even think about taking that wedge out of our bunkers......

You would almost certainly have chunked a higher bounce one as well. It' not the club, it's the swing. And cater for your good shots not your bad ones!

60-04 is a good LW for off fairways. Not sure I'd use it from a bunker though, unless under the lip or sand as hard-packed.

Good club to practice with too. If you get good contact with that, then ball-striking is pretty good.

F or the most part i loved it Foxy......
And yes i know the chunked ones were steep..... But most wedge swings will be a little steeper for the majority of people.... But i always thought that the more bounce on the sole of a wedge the faster it gets in and out of the turf and the less likely it is to dig.

I flit between my MD 60-08 and vokey 60-04 .

ive had the MD in the bag for years. I know it inside out. it is great in normal conditions. when the fairways get bone dry it becomes very tough to open it up in case blade it.

I bought the vokey this summer. it is easier to nip the ball with it although ive found there is a lot less room for error.

in bunkers, the vokey works well out of my new clubs shallow bunkers. an inch of sand at best. opening the md with 8 bounce puts too much bounce on it for these types of bunkers.

you can still use the vokey with 4 bounce in deeper bunkers just fine by opening it up.

Did you really need the 60 from 50mtrs?

You've found out how useful it is when you have a short shot that has to stop quickly. You've also found out why it costs some players more shots than it saves.
Don't automatically choose it when you're inside it's full shot range (unless it ends up being your favourite pitching club).

1/2" of sand? that's quite a lot, we have a mere layer of moisture, less on a warm day :D

Well, imo you need to establish what sort of wedge player you really are! Check yhi out http://scratchgolf.com/get-fit.html

It is a club to use sparingly though. More a specialist one than a go-to.
