50th Birthday celebration

To celebrate my half century in 2019, I am toying with two possible ideas. First, I have never been to a golf tournament and I would love to go to British Open. 2019 is taking place at Royal Portrush and I am considering going to travel over to watch on one of the days staying over. Second option is trying to succeed in the ballot to play the Old Course at St Andrews. Really can't make my mind up even though it is three years away. Anyone played the Old Course or conversely watch the pro's at the open? Love to know your thoughts and experiences so I can make my mind up.

The old course is a very unique experience and is definitely one to do before you stop playing this silly game. Personally it would be a no brainer and I'd be in the ballot asap
