OK, the top 5 album thread has been running well for a while and has been very successful, so how about making it a little harder, your top 5 tunes, I'll start it off with - in no particular order (apart from No 1)

1. U2 - One
2. Coldplay - Clocks
3. Cranberries - Linger
4. AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
5. Iron Maiden - Rime of The Ancient Mariner

honarable mentions to (didn't quite make it) -

Foo Fighters - Times Like These
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Phil Collins - Against All Odds
Yazoo - Nobody's Diary
Led Zepplin - Black Dog

What song can you listen to over and over again, feel free to add more than 5

1) Muse - Plug in baby
2) Foo Fighters - Everlong
3) Faithless - We come one
4) Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
5) The Libertines - Don't look back into the sun

You're a dark horse Homer, I don't like U2 (Bono really) but the others are all in my favs

I had you down more as Sinatra/ Buble type. You live and learn ;)

I'm partial to a bit of AOR there's no doubt, but the 3 minute pop song has it's place also. Especially from the 70/80's.

POP.
Gary Numan------------Are Friends Electric
T-Rex-----------------Get It On
Depeche Mode----------Just can't get enough
Blondie---------------Heart Of Glass
Echo & The Bunnymen---The Killing Moon
Aztec Camera----------Somewhere In My Heart (I know it's 6 but damn it I can't stop!)

AOR.
Fleetwood Mac-------The Chain
Dire Straits--------Telegraph Road
SuperTramp----------Breakfast In America
Pink Floyd----------Comfortably Numb
Rainbow-------------Since You've Been Gone

I've been trawling youtube and discovered "talk talk" again and "split endz". God I feel so old now when I look back and see it was over 20 years ago and only seems like yesterday.

My god I forgot all about Telegraph Road. The Chain was a good call too but I am a bit or a rocker. I nearly had Meat Loaf in the runners up list too.

I do like Fish (people should check his current stuff out) and the Fish era Marillion. The first album with Steve Hogarth (after Fish Left - Seasons End was brilliant) but not really been the same for me since

I know Fish quite well and have had the odd beverage (in my drinking days). Not to be repeated on a regular basis!!!

Always liked Talk Talk. Mark Hollis is a supurb tunesmith. Okay so some might see alot of his stuff as quirky, especially after the It's My Life album.

The Party's Over and It's My Life albums are up there with Rio and Lexicon Of Love as sublime 80's pop albums.

Me too. I thought that was the only way to listen to them.

Rainbow were great! My first ever gig was Rainbow at Ingleston in Edinburgh in the early 1980's. Ritchie was, and still is, a grumpy git but boy could he play geetar.
