4K TV what now?

Ah. This thread could be interesting.

HID is making noises about getting a bigger tele (currently 32"). Tbh, we can see very little difference in picture quality on it between normal and the freeview HD channels. Is there any point in getting 4K when we are unlikely to have a 4K signal source in the foreseeable future?

And yes, I am a technophobe so keep it simple please. :mmm:

A bit like putting a standard DVD in a Blu-ray player, it upscales really well. There is an obvious difference putting a HD channel through a 4K TV. I'm well impressed.

And as others have said, Netflix is good. £8-ish a month...

Depends if you buy a cheap one or not. I've got one of the Samsung 4K TV's that has the processor in it for up scaling standard content. It doesn't make everything into 4K but it definitely makes everything look amazing.

Recently upgraded our telly and purchased a 55" Samsung KS7000. Absolutely fantastic picture quality.
HD channels are jaw dropping picture quality, and 4k feeds look amazing.
Also purchased the new Xbox One S for the 4k player.
Only have one 4k blu so far (Martian) but will be adding to it as time goes by.

I'm currently toying with buying a new TV, looking at the LGUH770, would appreciate any reviews if anyone one/knows about TV's.

I have just set up the exact same telly and have tried some prime and Netflix 4K stuff... just wow!!!!

Currently watching Avatar on E4hd channel. I've got this on blu-ray but, wow, is this impressive upscaled on 4K!!

SkyQ has improving UHD content, we also use Netflix.
Watched The Davinci Code in UHD last night and it was markedly more impressive than just HD. We have ours running through an Onkyo amp but luckily it already has HDCP 2.2 pass through as some 4K panels won't display UHD if an amp or through device doesn't support 2.2 pass through.

2.2 pass through...? I was thinking that too.

TBH, the above is why experts are needed to set this sort of stuff nowadays.

Not really, its just awareness like many things. Many AV amps have 4k "upscaling" but without HDCP 2.2 pass through wont carry 'true 4k' signals to the TV.
Bit of reading to understand it negates the need for experts.
