What are the handicap rules for a 4BBB stroke play comp? Is it a team handicap or is it best net score on each hole or something else?

You and your partner each play your own ball and use your own handicap (usually 3/4 allowance) and the best points for the team counts on each hole. So if you were receiving 19 shots and your partner was scratch, your bogey (net birdie, 3 points) on the SI 1 hole would better his par (net par, 2 points).

It's medal play not Stableford, so no points in these parts. :)

You must record gross scores. If you do also record net scores then any errors made by you in applying handicaps are not significant - i.e. the error cannot be used to impose any sort of penalty for signing for a wrong score. You only sign for the gross score.

I know it's gross scores in normal single player medal play but is that still the case in 4BBB?

Yes! Put both scores down gross. Working out the adjusted score is the job of 'The Committee'. Though you should work it out for yourself just in case they screw it up - as has been known!

And as mentioned ensure all put the score for each hole in the correct column (got that wrong before)

Yes it's always gross scores (as foxy has posted) and you need to ensure that your full handicaps are on the card as well.

These are basic rules requirements and don't change in stroke play events.

We played a 4bbb last week full H/Cs given, and told by the starter to only mark the best NET score at each hole on the card.

Our better ball was 60 and we won :whoo:.

Sounds like I better ask when the time comes. Resson I was asking on here is the only team thing I've played in so far was a Texas Scramble thing and we had to record the 2 best net scores at each hole off full handicaps.

I did that very recently after being responsible for marking the card in my first 4bbb

Was sat in the bar and scratching my head as to how i could work out the points when both players had different H/C's

I was mortified when i realized i should have used two columns. Much apologising from me not to mention embarrassment. Sorted it by the four of us using a combination of memory and our FC's card to ensure all was 100 accurate.

Tell you what though

I wont make that mistake again :o
