There's a range and golf shop near us which in the past has had a sign outside for passing motorists to read. Without a word of a lie this is what it says:

Learn Golf in 4 Weeks

This has always struck me as being a rather ambitious timeframe, and whenever I pass by I smile to myself and wonder exactly what a 'graduate of this course' might make of being out on a proper track after such a quick baptism.

Must take a photo of it next time I'm passing as I believe it's still on display.

Reminds me of a joke. A lady has her first golf lesson with the pro. The following week she brings her friend. "Does your friend want to learn to play golf as well?" he asks. "Just her" she replies "I learned last week" ( Apologies to our lady forum members, it was about a lady when I heard the joke, please feel free to repeat it in the male gender)

Went down there to take pic but sadly it was dark  but will have one sorted by this time tomorrow. So sit tight guys as you'll not believe your eyes when you see it.

Sign me up while you are down there, ive been playing getting on for 8 years now and im still none the wiser;)

I'm sure in 4 weeks you can learn the basics of grip, aim, stance and posture plus putting and chipping.

I doubt it will have you shooting in the 70s but should get you going round close to 100.

I define learning golf as knowing how to GASP, chip and putt.

Surely no ones doubting that with a weekly lesson you wouldn't learn the game of golf in 6 months

Or even combing those 28 lessons into 28 days?

Mastering it will take several lifetimes though :D

I've played golf with a few forum'ers and that's exactly what they did ... They're stuck on week 4 and need to move on
