3W off the deck.. what a beauty

One of the many shots I cant play is the 3W off the deck. Have a mental block and therefore dont even attempt it. One of my PP is the master of 3W off the deck. This weekend, played a quick 9 holes with usual fellas. On the P5, hit my 2nd OOB so dropped another ball into play. For no apparent reason, pulled out my 3W (TM SuperFast which now has a new stiff shaft) and got the purest shot I could find.. Sailed about 200ish yards with a bit of a fade.

3 holes later, pulled it out again and wham.. sent another one into orbit. absolutely loved it. Hopefully it is not just luck, and was more to do with the change in shaft (the previous stock shaft was way too whippy).

What is the forum avg for 3W off the deck?

Dunno but I like playing this shot and it is a thing of beauty when hit cleanly.

Although when trying some newer models they were coming out at around 230-240 and the callaway went 252 got a shock with that!!

Yeah that's about the same sort of average for mine as well.

Pros are Prob hitting one 240 average

Why such a big difference between deck and tee?

That's a big hit with a 3w off the tee.

I've a 4 wood, no idea how far it goes really as rarely use it.

3 wood off the deck....normally about 130, duffed.

Which is why I use a 7w as my longest club off the deck - a pretty reliable 180.

Thats nuts... Why the big difference between deck and tee? Mine are pretty similar..

Also if 3w at 235, then what does ur driver do?

I concur. But who the hell hits a 3 wood that far in winter. That's forum distance, hence I didn't think it'd be anywhere near.

Probably about 210 carry off the deck.

My playing partner hit his 3 wood about 320 yards at the weekend off a tee. No wind and it was 3 degrees. i almost fainted

I generally carry my 3w about 6500 yards.



Sometimes I use an electric trolley though.
