Not much better, 111. The annoying thing is the number of shots I throw away, an air shot, countless 3 putts, on the 15th par 5 I was in a green side bunker for 3, hole score 7, 16th par 4, short of greenside side by bunker for 3, hole score 9, 17th just short of par 5 green for 3, hole score 8. atleast 7 shots wasted just on the holes, its so frustrating.

Sounds familiar. Probably putting way to much pressure on yourself. It's taken me 18 months just to treat a medal round as any other round of golf. I've started refusing gimme's in social games and insist on holing out to get in the habit. Enjoy the weather, the company and the game the scores will come :)

Nothing to worry about there Louise - the 3 cards should hopefully have reasonable scores on them. the fun bit starts when they give you the handicap and you start to see it come down ;)

That all sounds familiar Louise. I finished my second ever round with 106 at the weekend and can count at least 10 shots I threw away (a 7 on a par 3 which featured three shots in a greenside bunker, followed by three putts accounting for a good chunk of those).

It's all part of the process. From now until you next go out, forget about the air-shots and 3 putts, and remember the pars, the beautiful contact you made on an approach shot and that nice putt that so nearly dropped. I figure if I keep replaying in my head the holes I par'd, I'll learn how to repeat that feat more and more often.

Don't worry Louise, it will come and you have to start somewhere. That said I play of 14 and somehow managed to come home with 102 on my scorecard a couple of weeks ago, "not amused" does not come close.

16th I had a bunker to go over indecision caused a fluffed shot the I put the next in the bunker and took 2 to get out.
17th there was a tree in the way it I could get it on part of the green but miss hit it into rough, then went through the green then 3 putts from just off the greem.
Simples, sadly.

Reason I asked was to see what caused the extra shots. Least you know where you need to practice, for those chips over the bunker you must commit to them, don't worry about getting close to the pin, just get over the bunker and onto the green. from there 2 putts hopefully. Can't do anything about a fluffed shot but again gotta commit to it.,

Does that count on the little chip shots over water Hendo, anything spring to mind:rofl:

and the muppets hijack another thread...boys! you should know better...

Louise - when do you hear what your handicap will be?

I still need another card Heidi, local rule is 4 cards, no idea why. but unless the 4th is a lot better its looking like 33.
First time I've ever heard of 4 cards being required - hey ho! just think how much fun it will be plummeting from 33 to ???? !! ;)

I keep querying it Heidi, but apparently it was voted in at the club, presumeably to stop bandits getting a 33 handicap and then ripping the course up. (I wish)

Oh well, if thats their daft local rule then you just have to go with it! welcome to the world of daft rules...;)
