Playing in our Spring Vase comp tomorrow, 36 holes stroke play.

My question is are the two rounds treated separately for handicap cut purposes? i.e. is CSS calculated separately for each of the two rounds, or cumulatively over the two rounds?

thanks in advance

Seperate. (and combined!). When I played a 36 hole event at our club I played well and shot under hcp for both rounds. Howver, I had my orginal hcp for both rounds for the comp score, but for hcp adjustment i was cut following the first round and ended up on hcp for the second as the new playing hcp was lower than before!

I was not aware of this prior so you are right to ask (assuming all clubs will have to do the same??)

It will be separate. But your hc remains the same for the day even if you know your morning round has resulted in your hc going up or down.

There will be 2 separate CSS's, each round is treated as a different competition

It is up to the club to decide. CONGU recommends using the starting handicap for both rounds if they are played on the same day or within a short period of each other. The scores from each round, however, are treated on their own for CSS calculation and handicap adjustment .
