I played today with some friends on a beautiful day at Littlehampton GC.
The course was dry and dusty but in very good shape. I started with a 7 on the first but then birdied the 2nd so not looking too bad.
The third is a 177 yard par 3 and was slightly downwind and playing short due to the hard ground. I decided to hit a 7 iron with a view to having one bounce short of the green then running up to the flag in typical summer links style. I hit a perfect strike and it set off, bang on line. One bounce, two bounces then it tracked to the pin and dropped.
Handshakes all round and I was in shock, but delighted. I am really pleased to have done this, especially after doing it with such a lovely shot. Am just home now and after sharing this with the forum, I am going to open a bottle of very good champagne with my wife and drink it contentedly in a hammock with her in the garden!
