Hi All.

I have a Burner Superfast TP 3 wood and I've struggled for months with it. Using game golf since Jan , it transpires I hit it average 235 with 60% miss right off tee and 49% right off the deck . My RBZ stage 2 19deg Hybrid has 19% miss right of tee and deck with the exact same yardage , 235 (I use hybrid downwind on tight holes) so I've taken it out the bag.

Guys I play with tell me it's sits a degree open as its a TP model which if true could well be cause , it's the only club I miss right (and there straight right, no curve)

So , in light of this do you guys carry 3 woods or any recommendations for me to consider as I know it does leave a bit of a hole in the bag.

Thanks

I carry a 3wood but have very little confidence in using it to be honest. Having a lesson on friday to try and cure my problem with it before I look for a lower lofted hybrid.

Currently carry a 3 wood - 2014 Big Bertha.
Its set to 16° at the moment but may well be at 17° for my game tomorrow.
Also got the 5 wood, set at 19° but may be at 20° just to get a better launch.
I like having adjustable lofts, they do make a difference and I generally struggle with a fairway at 15° or less.

Recently put an R11 3 wood in the bag. I was out this evening practising it for a safe option off the tee. a cut seems to be the order of the day.

I haven't had one in the bag for years. I fear they are game wreckers in the wrong hands.

I've got a 3 wood at 14 deg, 17 and 20 deg hybrids and 18 deg Ping 2 iron. I mix and match depending on the course. I usually swap between the 2 iron and the 17 deg hybrid but if the course is really tight or links, I drop the 3 wood for the 2 iron.

Carry a 3-wood FG Tour set to 14.5 for tee-shots, and a 5w set to 17 for the fairway; I can't hit low-lofted hybrids for some reason, they go nowhere for me.

Had a R11S 3w which I fought with for 18mths before finally admitting defeat, 5w in my sig is a complete monster and far more reliable than the 3 ever was.

Did you take the adapter out of the stock shaft on your jpx? I have a new shaft arriving on Tuesday.

No as tempting as that was I couldn't be bothered doing it, after a few false starts I got lucky and found a shaft fitted with an EZ adaptor on ebay. Did you get an official one or just grab a shaft and pull the tip?

Last year my 3w (cobra amp) was my go too club, almost as long as my amp driver and 99% of the time bullet straight off the tee, but due to head shape could be hit or miss off the deck.

When the whites are out a 3w is perfect off a few tees but during the winter I dropped it in favour of a 17* hybrid and have been mullering that from every lie poss. I've now laid hands in a 913F as the whites are out and I need a 3w, but of it proves no better than the 17* then it will be straight out, but on the eye the 913f sits more like an older burner and less like a 3 deep

I was under the impression the EZ and JPX has different adapters. Bought a Fujikura Vista Tour 60 from the US.

I tried a pile of shafts at a Mizuno demo day and liked them all better than the stock. Just took a wee gamble on this one.

I carry my 910f 3 wood which I have set at 15 degrees and use it off the tee quite regularly, in fact, it will probably replace my driver this week and will be lowered to 14. That will make way for my new woods arriving sometime this week.

The loft settings are different but they fit the same holes, I just screwed it down to the lowest setting so probably about 9deg. I gambled too, this was just an auction that popped up and I figured I could recover the cost if it went wrong, so far so good:thup:

When I went for a loft fitting the guy said he would put me in a low launching shaft like an adila rip or ahina. fingers crossed on this one. I will let you know how I get on.

Always carry a 3W. It's an absolute must as a safety driver and for those extra long approach shots. A 4W is also a good option.

I'm only using my 3 wood (XCG3-3/15*) at the moment as I'm having the same problem with my driver (Bazooka HT Max-D) the Bazooka is 1* closed which produces a "fade" so I think 1* open will induce a "draw" (if I've got it the right way around) it's all to do with mechanics, you hit the ball in one direction but because of the spin that's induced the ball goes in the other direction or something like that !...

ps, 235 with a 3 wood and a rescue is about the same distance as I'm getting with mine, 200-250 is good !...:D
