3 clubs and putter comp

I have done well in these over the last couple of years, although it has now been removed from our calendar.
I always took driver, I generally use it on 12 of our 18 tees normally, then a 7 or 8 iron for approach shots and a pitching wedge for around the greens.

I was thinking driver, but if it Doesn't want to play ball and decides to start slicing, it means Il be going with 7i off every tee, which would rule me out of every long hole and my course has quite a few. Distance between hybrid and driver isn't that great either as my drive goes high and the hybrid is more of a lower flight and runs further.

I won a 3 clubs and a putter competition last week. My choice was a 5 wood for driving off the tee and for long shots from the fairway/semi-rough, a 7 iron for medium length shots, and a gap wedge for short shots. Seemed to work quite well, because I scored more Stableford points than I normally average, and I hardly missed my other clubs! :)

Smart money generally goes on clubs that you use on par 3s
If you need, say, a 8 iron but only have 5w, 6iron, wedge then scorings going to be tricky.
Most of out par 3s are either 9, 6 or 4 hybrid so I'd probably go with them..
Hybrid gets me 200 so OK for longer holes, 2 of them and I'm on or around most par 4s or within a half 9...

It is probably a good idea to practice half and three-quarter shots with your chosen clubs. Gripping down by a inch will also knock about 10 yards off a full shot.

we have 3 clubs of which one must be a putter and its amazing how low the scores are with just 3.

i used a 23 deg hybrid and a sw and still managed a score in the 70's gross
