It's our 3 clubs and a putter tomorrow and though I probably should go with a 5 iron instead of driver and a 6 iron and a 50 degree wedge, what clubs would you go with if you have these comps?

No I meant I should go with 5 iron instead of driver I'm actually going with driver. If I took 5 iron I'd go with 8 iron and a 54 wedge I don't have a hybrid

4 clubs, your being spoilt, ours is 3-clubs period, some don't take a putter but just 3-clubs is a tougher choice!

3-clubs with a putter would be Driver, 6 iron, wedge, putter

Surely your choice depends on the length of your course. At our 6350 yard course I would use a 4-hybrid for drives and long shots, a 7-iron for medium length shots and a gap wedge for short shots and bunker shots. You can often use your putter as a 'Texas Wedge' from off the green with a bit of practice.

Have previously won ours with a driver 7i PW.
Personally think it's mad not to take driver or at least 3w, otherwise you are putting yourself at a huge distance disadvantage from the tee.

Id always take 3 or 5w over driver as you've got a club you can use off the tee or fairway.
I know some can hit driver off fairway, but it's a pretty high risk shot.

I think driver or 3 wood is a must. We have two par 5s reached both with driver 8 iron and 54 wedge everything else was driver wedge today prob should have taken a 60 degree as was too close to the greens and couldn't auite get the 54 high and spot like I can with the 60. Group I played with was me driver 8 and 54 one had driver 7 and 56 and the other had 3 wood rescue and 9 Iron. Amazing the different amount of club selections people choose.

I use a hybrid as my long club, because I am very confident of hitting good straight shots with it, I am just about long enough to reach most of the par-4's with 2 hybrid shots, it's good out of semi-rough, and I can take off distance with it. Basically it keeps me out of trouble, which is the key to good scoring.
