3 clubs and a putter

Can I ask why ?

Previously you said you like the necessity to manufacture shots - even more of a challenge with just two clubs ?

Because with three clubs I have enough choice regarding distances and loft to take on the shots I know I can play and construct a score. Reducing the number of clubs further reduces those options. It's purely a personal preference

My old club called this WIP (Wood,Iron,Putter) that makes the choice even more limited

that does sound like good fun. I think for my course I would go.

Driver
6 iron
Putter.

For the 3 club and putter I'd go
Driver
6 iron
60 wedge
Putter.

I'd love to give this format a go as you would have to get proper creative with shots.

Hard to get creative with a driver though - 3 wood would imo be a better choice

Just 3 clubs at our club,I go for 3wood 8i and putter, quite enjoy this format and have won it 3 times in the past, surprising what scores you can get with just 3 clubs, bit of a challenge having to manufacture some shots with the 3 wood.

for me its always been the same choices I think its works the best.

Hybrid - You can drive with it and use it for any longer par 3s too,
7 Iron - Should be ok to use that for most of your 2nd or 3rds shots if needed, Will be good for medium par 3s too
9I/PW - good for shorter par 3s, you'll need something you can hit high with decent distance , good for chipping too

Long low one off the deck. Low shot under trees. Low runner through a bunker and onto the green . Bump and run into the green.
Just to add to this too. You haven't seen my drives, there is some creativity there. 60yard duck hooks 120yd slice. My particular favourite is the bottom groove stinger. :D Maybe not driver for other courses as you say 3 wood would be better but at our course I can easily reach every par 4 driver 6 iron and reach the front of all of our par 5s so could be putting. That's the beauty about it though isn't it that everyone sees the game different. :)
