I’ve been playing the game for about a year now, don’t get to play too regularly, but a couple of times a month, with a couple of monthly range sessions & lessons.
I bought a cheap set of clubs from a discount sports shop originally just to see how into it I got – it didn’t take long to realise I was definitely into it! So am now looking to upgrade.
Have been to local golf shop – looking at a second hand set of irons (ping g2), and as I’m relatively tall I discussed this in the shop and they said we’ll be fitting them to you anyway – what I’m interested in finding out is 2 points!
1. Is there any advantage in getting fitted for clubs when your swing is still erratic? (improving thanks to lessons & all too infrequent practice! But still a bit erratic!)
2. Anything particular I should look for in 2nd hand clubs? I feel like I’m getting better value that way, but wary of wasting money that’s hard earned!

Thanks for any help/advice/comments
ps wasn’t sure if this should go in this section or in ask the experts so went for this one as top of page!

Ping G2s are good clubs. If you are tall the shafts need to be the correct length, along with the lie angle. As an example, I am 6 2, and have 1/2" longer shafts, 2 degrees upright.

You also need to know if you need stiff or regular shafts.
