24hrs as a golfer, the highs and lows

This game can be so frustrating when two rounds are so different. Yesterday played our summer doubles Matchplay final. Against a 3 and a 4 handicapper we managed a 6 & 4 win, we played great golf, partner is off 21 and plays to well below it but struggles in qualifiers to keep it together for a whole round. Our opponents played 15holes to one over gross but we also shot the same gross score and partner used his shots to great effect. The game was played in great spirits and throughly enjoyable from both teams.

Roll on this morning, and we are playing a Foursomes comp, spirits are high of a good game .... and that's were it ended. Driving yesterday was great, hitting almost every shot I played, today was a totally awful, missing drives long right, chunking chips, hitting bunkers all over the place. We had to laugh it off in the end it so bad.

I guess this is what we come back for each week, but crikey it's frustrating :angry:

It's one of the fascinating things about golf, no matter how good you are, you are always capable of playing like a knob. Well done on Saturday though :thup:

Golf is one of those games that if you play well as a handicap golfer a few weeks in a row you can get screwed, the opposite is this happening. Can't win game

crazy round today... 3 putted an eagle chance, 4 putted a birdie chance, 4 shots to get out of a green side bunker (when I cant even remember the last time I took more than 1!!), apart from that played the best I've played in months and got a cut with the other 15 holes!!!!!!!

Had one of them myself yesterday, shot 83 (+13) with 4 doubles and a treble.

the other week I had a 20 foot putt for an eagle 3, I walked off the green with a 7!

Yep the golfing gods live to give and then snatch away! On Monday I shot 42 points and could do no wrong, even bad shots had good bounces or landed in place which still gave me a good chance on the next. So full of confidence I went to my winter league match. Lost 5-3 even though I had six shots! Played like a numpty and took 4 shots to get out of the bunker on the 2nd! Then went and played to hcp again on Saturday shooting 36 points with 2 blobs! Go figure!
