Apparently following on from there new found status as a high profile place for staging top competition or rather one of the few counties financially able to commit Turkeyis rumoured to be bidding to stage the 2022 rydercup.
Would be a brave decision? But suppose Money talks....

Isn't the course in Asia..?

Can't hold it in Asia unless the US hold it in Australia or somewhere similar.
It's Europe vs USA - has to be held in Europe in my opinion.

True but at the end of the day money talks. How long before the Middle Eastern countries who put so much in to the European Tour want to host it. Does not seem too ridiculous based on the fact that the big end of season finale of the European Tour is in Dubai.

Agree with Imurg

Its not the European Tour vs the USPGA

its European Players so the course should be in Europe

Hopefully in England soon.

In which case, do we open it up to Asian players too...?

Maybe they will use the Eurovision song confarce countries to decide which countries are now in Europe in which case they can hold it in Israel!

The 'internationalisation' (is that a word?) of golf is an interesting subject. China is spending a fortune on developing new players. South Korea are already setting the benchmark on that particular subject. The Olympic Games in Brazil will feature golf for the first time and the PGA of America announced last week that the PGA Championship maybe played outside of the USA "occasionally." It was also announced at the McGladrey Classic last week that the PGA of America and the PGA Tour will have a stronger relationship and that in itself will have some impact on the Ryder Cup - which is organised from a US perspective - by the PGAA. At the end of the day, golf has always followed the $/€/£ and if the Tourist Board of Turkey through enough at the problem, the Ryder Cup will go there. They paid Woods £1.5 million to attend last week!

I do find it interesting, though not appealing, that pretty much any sporting event is for sale these days. Unless the event has a very long established history in a particular venue, it is pretty much open to be bought by any country. Those countries investing heavily in the game will eventually want bigger and better tournaments to be held in their countries What can golf offer, The Majors are pretty much out of the question and so the only other tournament with real global recognition is the Ryder Cup. I for one can see it being held in China or the Middle East within my lifetime.
