Not sure where to keep note of these so thought I would kick off a thread.
2017 Goals
reduce handicap by 4 strokes
play more weekend competitions
work on my putting - need more par saves and make more birdies.
lose weight and strengthen core.
Be stronger in my efforts to achieve my goals even when work interferes - lost Thursday night comp due to an issue in 2016, will make sure they reschedule for Friday afternoon instead.
Need to find a golf range that is open until 10-11pm for weekday practice.

right those are my 2017 goals ... will revisit them in a month.

My normal goal is to simply enjoy playing..
But this year I'm setting another goal of maintaining my handicap.
New club beckons and it's longer than my current one. More tree lined as well so if I can stick at 7 for the year I'll be happy.

Play a lot more golf, both home and away... The new job in 2016, plus injury saw me play less than 30 rounds in '16.

Put a spare club in the car for lunchtime practicing, as the office is less than 5 mins from the club.

Play evenings...HID has two late evenings at work. Use the opportunity.

Book more Opens.

Have fun!

I should cut and paste the last couple of years lol

Main hcp aim is to get to 18
Practice more as this year it pretty much went out of the window!
Use my time more efficiently, my daughter has air cadets Monday and Thursday so there's 5 hours I can use.
Short game and putting need serious work.
Play more away days.
Keep enjoying it.

Think this will be my last chance to have a big push as I start my degree in September so will have less free time. Therefore I'm planning on throwing myself into it this year.

My goals are to cut my handicap this year
By playing as often as I can really

well until july then our baby is due right in the middle of the season.. bad planning

would love to get my handicap moving in the right direction, has been going up for the last 18 months so time for a change, more concentration and

Hopefully : Get down to single figures.
Possibly : Hang on to Cat 2 status.
Realistically : Stay under 14

Same as every year - play as many different courses as possible and enjoy my golf and the chat with playing partners.

It would be nice to get down to 4 before the baby arrives but not really an aim

first full year of golf ahead. i'd like to find the 7 strokes i need to break 80. not put myself under too much pressure. improve my overall fitness. play at least 50 rounds and maybe get in on a north west 'arrange a game'.

Re-discover the enjoyment even when playing badly, become more consistent and get down to Cat 1.

Ideally, my name added to another board at the club, but not massively fussed!

Having just joined up as a member after 3 years out I have the ambition of getting back to where I left off which was around a 9 handicap. I think this might be slightly ambitious but I know I have lots of areas to work on which would help me get close to my goal.

Another aim is not to repeat mistakes I made when I played a few years ago. Main one is to stop messing about with equipment and focus on what I do have in my bag and when I make a mistake its something in my swing not my clubs fault. The other fault I will not repeat is to not focus on distance so much. I am not a huge driver of the ball but for some reason I always used to try and push myself to drive an extra 5-10 yards which would put me in trouble. I am learning that I score better being in the middle of the fairway than I would being in the rough or in some trees.

Short game, short game and short game - something I have always been rubbish at but never put in the hours on the practice green. I can easily cost myself 5-6 shots a round with bad putts or duff chips. I aim to put in a lot of practice in this area and focus on getting up and down in more situations than I ever used to.

2015/2016 were not good years for the handicap but this was coupled with health issues. I went from 8.3 to 11 during this period.

Not quite playing to 11 still but if I can back to 10 again I'll be happy.

Play better (more consistent) away from home and improve a few elements of my game including wedges and putting routine. It'll probably all change through the season though...
