Hi

i have been given a dozen 2016 pro v1.

obviously a great ball but should I use them or wait until I improve? Will the extra spin impact me negativity by losing more tee shots

ball of choice currently is callaway supersoft

thanks

ProV1 doesn't spin much from the driver
Any excess spin will be put on by your strike.
It depends on how many balls you lose...if you lose 3/4 per round then they ain't gonna last long..
Supersoft is a decent ball - longish off the tee, soft around the greens.

generally lose 1 per round. I do like the super soft but I was given the pro v1s

So no outlay then?

No question really. Get them hit, they're not ornaments

In fact prioritize using them on social/fun rounds over a ball you did pay for (that's the one you want to get the most out of)

they are rumoured to be the best - so use them

they are free - so use them

you are a high handicapper - like me - so focus on improving other parts of your game and then worry about the ball.

I'm not a great fan of the Pro V's in all honesty. I find they don't go as far as a Srixon Soft Feel by quite a bit. In fact I'm swapping 6 new Pro V's for 24 Soft Feels. I also prefer the Srixon Z Stars.
It's probably that I don't swing fast enough to get proper compression from them.
Titleist advert says Pro V's suitable for golfers of ALL. abilities- clever marketing.

They were a freebie so no need to worry about laying out

don't want to sell them as I quite fancy using them

played one last night and the ball made it round and is still in the bag for another go. Now that's a first........

Wow, they must be miracle balls then!

Balls are actually like golf clubs, some will be better suited to your swing, tempo, club head speed and spin than others.

There was an interesting article I read, I cannot remember where so apologies, that said along the lines of the Pro V1 does not suit a lot of golfers, who use them just because the top pros do, and they would score a lot better just by changing their ball.

There are a few people around who have the equipment so measure all your data that will do a ball fitting session and recommend which balls would get the most out of your swing.

That being said if they were free crack on with them. Also try not to use lake balls, the same article gave the data on how badly they perform compared to new balls

Thanks, it's true what you say. Although right now I don't think the ball makes much difference
