Just been on the R&A site and looked to see what the early prices are,was expecting about £35 for a day ticket, not £50 if booked befor 31st December. Do you think this is expensive this far away from the tourament

Good value.I paid £200 for my season ticket this year and it was the best £200 I spent this year. Also managed to pick up a players pass on tinternet for £50 that saw my other half get in every day too so £250 for the 2 of us for the week was money well spent even if I did think the players pass was somewhat dodgy!!

£50 for a whole days play?

That's good value for money!

Or you can pay an extra tenner on the gate when the time comes ;)

If you're willing to go early on either Thursday or Friday and stay until it gets dark , then it's the best value ticket you'll ever buy.

Friday's a geat day as there's realsense of tension as the cut looms and there are usually some of the supposed favourites struggling to make the cut.

I paid 15 euro for the day at Valderrama last Thursday and that was good value. Granted it wasn't the field of an open championship but was still some very good players playing a very hard course.

I think £50 is a bit on the steep side. Yes, it compares favourably with football on the face of it but football is just silly money. For those who spend 12 hours there etc have a look at how much of that time you actually see a player taking a shot compared with how much time you spend walking about. Then factor in how many great or spectacular shots you see and I bet the real entertainment lasts less than 30 mins. It's about atmosphere I suppose. Great to go once but once you have the t-shirt it's maybe not the same value. Personally I wouldn't pay £50 for me but the kids go free idea is brilliant.

What you have to bear in mind though is that you are paying to be at one of the summers showcase events anyway. It depends where you situate yourself. If you cna find a decent vantage point behind a green and watch some groups go through then I'd say it's not bad value. Don't forget you'll have the tented village (hopefully no monsoons and it'll cope better than Cletic Manor) as well. Personally if I was going at all then I'd go on a practice day and watch a lot of the stuff that goes on at the range and then follow a few groups in the afternoon and its cheaper and less crowded

I can't wait to go, it's gonna be my first golf tornement and I cant wait !!!! It's going to be amazing, how good were your guys first open ?? Anything I should do ??

The Ryder Cup cost £100 per ticket ,and worth every penny

This is still good value in my book when compared to other events

£50 for possibly 15 hours of great golf = £3.33 per hour

Compare that to £40 for a 90 minute soccer match, no competition.
