Well, after all of our predictions of this years major winners I was expecting at least 1 or 2 people to get some correct, not a single person guessed a single winner correctly....and if i'm being honest, the majors this year have been a complete let down for me won by (with the exception maybe of Cabrera who dissapears up his own backside everytime he wins something for a couple of years, then re-appears again) by journey men.

Cink, although I defended him at the time, hasn't really ever done anything ever to warrant winning a major and, like Cabrera, has found life on the course tough since winning The Open.

Lucas Glover, fair enough, has found a bit of form, but had anyone ever heard of him before he won the USOpen?

Y.E Yang.....well, the less said the better, yes the better man won on the day but for crying out loud, 1 PGA tour win and he walks off with the PGA.....very sad for the game.

On the flip side, you could say that none of the worlds top 10 have been good enough to win, but thats not what the majors are about for me, they're there for the big guns to win, not some no-mark wannabee who will now fall of the face of the earth for a few years.

Very very lame year IMHO.....very lame!

I was thinking that, but then decided differently. Does this just not show the strength in depth in golf at the moment? And more to the point, reveal how extraordinary Tiger is to have won 14 majors in an era when anyone can win one? Not just one or two rivals, but 150.

Either that, or the top 50 below Tiger are rubbish, and he is now a choker after his enforced layoff.

I think it's been refreshing that different people have won.

i've quite enjoyed it. Only thing i've not enjoyed is not winning the gokart comp :( mind you, i don't think anyone did!

Couldn't agree less! Winning a golf competition, any golf competition, be it your Club Championship or a Major, is all about beating the rest of the players entered. Maybe they do 'fall away' after as you say, but many don't and they later become other Major winners, John Daly is a case in point.

Personally, I like to see a big changeover of personnel in the higher echelons of the game. Well done Yang.

keef, such a load of [****] ur talking. Just because Tiger didn't win dosent derail the majors. I'm glad someothers are winning them. As for journey men, isn't that what they all are. Are you saying we should have majors for the top 20 or so in the world and let the rest play for anything else. I wish tiger would retire, as the coverage on the tele is getting worse. If they were allowed they would put a camera on the man's head. That guy Murray from sky was so excitited about Tiger making the cut and nearly winning it he was on cloud 9. There is more to golf than Tiger. Remember whenever Steve Davis was winning all the snooker, how many people turned off, I was one of them, it was so boring the same person winning everything. Tennis is nearly as bad. F1, well I wouldn't waste my time even to look at the lovely ladies on the grid.
Well done Yang and if Tiger never win's another major, it will be for the good of golf.

I do feel that if Jonny No One is going to win it, then why can't one of the British lads do it, but it always seems to be some foreign Jonny. That is annoying.

I completely disagree Keef. Utter Tosh.

I simply dont care who wins, and altho I'd favour the Brits or Europeans, I dont care who else wins, and think its a refreshing change when someone steps up from nowhere and nails a big one.

Being TW, or any of the other 'top' players, doesnt give you a divine right to win the Majors. Why should it ?

Sorry clubchamp, at what point in my post did I mention Tiger Woods solely? You seem to have issues with Tiger, would you like to chat about these issues are they are obviously getting under your skin?

To have such issues about THE best golfer of our generation is quite sad really, still, whatever floats your boat I suppose!

I did, however, in my post mention the worlds top 10, that includes the likes of Mickleson, Garcia, Harrington etc etc. The fact that none of these won a major de-values them slightly for me.

Lets all be honest here, who would prefer to see a final group battle between Tiger & Phil, or Garcia & Paddy as opposed to Glover vs Yang???

No brainer for me.

Keef,

Cink, although I defended him at the time, hasn't really ever done anything ever to warrant winning a major and, like Cabrera, has found life on the course tough since winning The Open.

Each to his own and all that, but have to say I don't agree with you here.

Not quite sure what poor old Stewart Cink has done to you, but he's only played twice since winning The Open, finishing 6th in the WGC after four solid rounds and then suffering a nightmare last round at Hazeltine.

As for Lucas Glover, I think he showed in the USPGA that he may well prove not to be a 'journeyman', if we're going to use that slightly unfair term.

I think that it is great to see someone else other than Erkle winning. We hopefully have seen the las of any one player dominating the majors, give me 4 different winners every year.

Surely the thing about a Major is that anyone actually teeing it up on the first day is there by right therefor he has the right to win the trophy should that week be his "magic" week.

It's been good for golf this year I think. It stops all the hulabaloo about one or two players and opens it all up a bit. ;)

The worlds best players turn up one of them wins so congratulations to each and every one of them.

Last nights finish was superb,The Masters had Tiger and Phil going at it.At The Open we had 3 and a bit days of dreaming and urging Watson on.(I know I did).

Didn't get to see much of The US Open so can't comment on that one but for me they have all had something to keep me interested.

Sorry Keef but I've got to disagree. Its not sad for the game and in fact will be a catalyst in the far east in the same way as the female domination has been. It was good to see Woods wilt and not find any answers and I think the best man won. The fact that he has already beaten Wood in the HSBC event as well as his win on the toughest tour going tells me he is a very capable golfer who is able to control himslef in pressure situations.
