I've just got a new 2 thumb putter grip and will be using it for the first time next week. Just wondered if anyone else has used one and if so do they think its made any difference??

Why not? I've seen these around. Having tried reverse (cack-handed), fingers down the shaft etc. I'd never question anything which could potentialy help. It's seems logical enough. The most common problem is to squirm the face round/closed through the stroke, or to push it to avoid this very thing. If the hands aren't messing with one another, this could be really effective.
Good for you, and Welcome to the GM forum. (never got in early enough for this before!)

I’ve been using one for the last month or so, and must say my putting has improved

Sinking more 5-10 footers than ever, but not quite judging the pace of long putts as well as before.

I’ve gone from an average of 32 putts to 31, 29, 29, 29 in my first 4 rounds with it. Not bad when the greens have just been hollow tined...

(p.s. my putting still isnt great, but i miss a lot of greens so my first put isnt too long, following a chip!)

29 putts is not bad if you ask me. I tend not to count mine at the moment, because I, like you, miss a lot of greens so I don't have many of the long ones that lead to 3 putts.

I find pace in the winter much easier. I guess I'm around the 31-32 mark.

i agree 29 is okay, but really should be about 26 with the amount of greens i hit (3 in the last 2 rounds combined!! - roll on my g10s!)

i dont push / pull putts anymore, thanks to the grip

Crikey...26 is a steep target. If you missed all 18 and managed 10 x 1 putts, you'd play to 8!
An average round for me would be 6 GIR and 3 1 putts. Keep the doubles off the card and that'd be to 9. (with 33 putts).
I reckon with your new clubs, your GIR should improve and your therefore your putting stats look less impressive.

Is there any pattern to your missed GIR?

excuse my ignorance guys, but was is the two-thumb grip?
I've used a 'cack-handed' grip from the first time I picked up a putter - no idea why. I've tended to rationalise it since as keeping the left arm/elbow straight so it promotes a sweep rather than a swing - but of course that could all be twaddle.

a two thumb grip is much wider than a normal grip, so both thumbs can point straight down the front of the shaft, with hands level to each other (back of your left hand facing the hole and the back of your right hand facing the other way)

i played to 9 the other week, hitting only 2 greens with 29 putts. if my chipping was a little better i could have knocked a couple of putts off too...

i REALLY hope i hit a lot more greens with my new irons, but as you say, my putting stats will probably get worse. i suppose it depends how good the irons are...

The way i play, 29 putts isnt too great. My missed greens tend not to be far off - bunker / fringe etc, so you would fancy a lot of one putts and the odd chip in or putt from off the green.

there is no real pattern to my missed greens. some are due to a poor drive, others can be long, right or left (with the odd fat shot falling short too

p.s. i dont keep the doubles off my card :D
