When I found my Titleist CB's early this year, the set was 2iron - PW, but after giving the 2 a try with an early season swing on a cold day, and damn nearly shaking every filling loose, I put it back in the garage and decided that I wasnt perhaps supple or good enough for a 2iron these days..

However, for some reason, tonight I decided to go out for a few holes practice, and popped the 2 back in the bag to give it another whirl.

Eureka !! Off a tee peg, what a club - powerful and long, and a useful addition me thinks !! Perhaps not the club for 1st tee, but its staying in the bag

I think that God CAN hit a 2iron........ ;)

2 irons are very useful on a windy day when the hybrid just balloons. Also a useful club to a links golfer.

I was watching an old Shell's Wonderful World of Golf the other night and it was Phil Mickelson Vs Sergio Garcia from around 2001 I think. Both hit 2 irons from 245ish yards into one of the par 5s on the course and the flight looked amazing, low and piercing. I still don't think one will find a place in my bag though :D

What is it with 10 h/cappers being able to hit a 2-iron?

My 2-iron used to be my go to club, I almost never used the driver because the 2 was straighter and therefore longer.

My driver is working much better now, so the 2-iron doesn't get used much, partly because it's from an old set but also partly because I've now got a 3-iron which matches my set (but has an extra inch on the shaft, which makes it more like a driving iron) and goes as far, but mainly the reason the 2 doesn't get out much is because I'm currently hitting the 1-iron so well! :D

I'm playing with a friend of mine on Saturday who has an old school Bladed Mizzy 2 Iron which I might have a bash with on one of the par 4s to see how it hits. I'll no doubt regret it afterwards! :D

I'll often use my 2 iron 2 or 3 times a round.

It's great for the low punchy shot off the back foot to squirt it under the overhanging branches to get out of the woods.

I was watching Sky sports this morning and they had the Ladies European tour on. Laura Davis hit a 2 iron, 235 off the deck on one of the holes. Must have been a par 5 as she was putting for eagle! :o
