Putted OK today with my trusty old Ping Anser - but think that that is more to do with my recent putting lesson than the Putter? Best 30 quid i've ever spent

Keep thinking that a 2 ball putter would though cut out the 3 putts that still creep in?

Can one of you guys give me the heads up on these - apologies if i'm 5 years late on these!

If you took all the two balls Callaway ever made they would reach from coast to coast across America and have made the company millions of dollars, there must be a reason. Too big and ugly for me though.

Get a good stroke aka your lesson and you can putt with anything. I've gone back to my ping anser 2 from an odyssey white ice #9 and a TM Daytona Rossa

The 2 ball will give you better alignment help and perhaps stroke feedback but I prefer the look of a classic heel toe putter

Ok I'm wrong:

They would stretch 2043 miles.

372 times the hight of Everest

3.7 million sold since 2002

190 world wide tour wins

Retail sales £450 million

I must admit that when I go in shops and try putters I always like the big models.

I have always had a anser styled copy, well I have had two, one cost a tenner and the other 35.

I finally bought my ping redwood a year or so ago and from long range its fantastic. It does take concentration from under 6 feet but I would only gain a shot or two with a larger head but I bet I would loose a shot or two on long putts instead!

I am going to stick with the putter I have and work on those last 6 feet. In the summer (or longer evenings) I aim to make it 50% of my overall weekly practice time until I get better.

I've always been a mallet-Man!!

THe Anser style - or any heel/toe or blade for that matter - just seem to have a mind of their own when I swing them. I can feel the toe going all over the place.

But some of the newer styles look like you can get Sky on them..... :D

Exactly what Scienceboy said. I have an old Odyssey 2 ball, and from within 6 feet it is very good, but I find it soooo hard to control distance with it.

Once I switched to my Redwood I found that my distance control is a whole lot better, but the pay-off is that it probably isn't as consistent as a two ball from close range.

Funnily enough I've been practicing in the house with my two ball over the last few weeks and am tempted to give it one last hoorah!!!

I had a 2 ball blade a few years ago and it was good.

Replaced it with the white hot xg marxman blade (similar to 2 ball but with a thinner alignment consisting of a large thick white stripe as wide as a ball and one black line)

I personally feel the xg marxman is alot better than the 2 ball, i still struggled with the 2 ball for alignment as i think most people did as i saw numerous lines drawn down the 2 balls.

This is EXACTLY my view. I play a TM Monza Spider Vicino and it's some of the best money I've spent. It truly has knocked strokes off my round.

I had the exact same feeling with blade and heel/toe putters.

Carry two putters would be the answer to that. What % of shots are on the green?Pretty high for most people.Sacrifice a wedge/hybrid for two putters so you are confident from both distances.

Unless of course, it's against R&A rules!

2 ball is a great putter, good alignment, good feel and good distance control. I have just bought a Black Series ix, its awesome and doesnt look too big, infact its the smallest 2-ball i have seen.

In truth there is no putter on the market that will make you hole more 20 foot putts, but from closer in it gives you confidence, no question about that.

Get a centre shaft putter, they are usually face balanced - just don't like the look of 90% of mallets
