I had my 1st ever win with the society yesterday and i'm absoloutely chuffed.

Playing off a rather high 33 h'cap ( i did start on 28 this time last year) i scored 45 pts (93 strokes) and won a longest drive(240 ish) and a nearest the pin (2ft away) cue the bandit abuse :D. I scored on every hole and only fluffed about 7/8 shots over the round.

We played at TonyN's place which was in very good nick,Most of the pins were tucked away behind bunkers.

Although its not the longest of tracks, its very tight which makes it as hard. The food was great and would reccommend it to anybody to get down there and give it go.

After having a few lessons earlier this year i'm now starting to see the results.

I've played a few practice rounds on my own over the last few weeks too which has helped.

I also decided on thursday not to look at my scores whilst i'm going round which deffo helped me mentally.

I've had a text off the handicap sec to say i've been masacred from 33 to 24 which is a great acheivement in its self :D :D .

Now it's back to reality, i'm going to try to get out tomorrow and play exactly the same way and get my club handicap sorted.

Bobmac there's a couple of people who aren't very good but still turn out month by month so to accomadate they decided the max h'cap to be 36. I started off on 28 but managed to score no more than 24 pts per round last year so i went backwards.

Its good to see it go in the right direction now ;)

How many games did you play? You're only supposed to get 0.1 increase/game - you'd have had to play getting on for 90 to go up that much.

Viscount, The handicap adjustments are roughly Under 14pts +2 15-19pts +1.5 20-24pts +1 25-29pts +0.5 30-36pts no change 36+pts -0.6 per pt plus 10% deduction for winning.

I don't think this is the normal procedure for handicaps but i think in order to keep the lesser players intrested you've got to be flexible.

I played about 5 rounds last year hence the high h'cap.

Since last november i've had a few lessons and joined a club so i'm trying to get my h'cap to match my ability(20-16 ish).

I don't wanna be playing off a ladies h'cap forever.

I found not adding my scores up as i'm going along helped as i stayed focused.

Well done. Bet you find the handicap adjustment a bit strange next time. Enjoy your good form.

Homer i'm sure i will but thats why i've spent time and money on getting my game in shape to play good golf.

Hopefully the days of millitary golf are few and far between now ;)
