Hi yesterday I played my firsy round on an 18 hole course (Ufford park, Suffolk) par 71 5989 yds. I managed to get around in an unremarkable 143, but I dont care, the sun was shining, birds were singing, got to spend a few hours walking around with my dad and uncle and finished the day off with a couple of pints.
I know where I saw struggling though, my long game, I just cant hit it long yet, and loosing 2 in the water and 1 OOB didnt help matters much, but I have something to work on my next lesson.

Cheers

Chris

My first 18 at Wexham Park near Slough - went round in 139.........

Was quite happy as I'd beaten double-par by 1 shot.........

132 At a course in Lower Hutt NZ - in about 1978.

Favourite club on the day was a 3-iron. Can't hit one properly now!

My first full round was 139 too - lost a couple of balls, but generally had a lot of fun. I was surprised at how fast that score came down tho! my next couple were around the 115-120 mark after a bit of range practice and a couple of lessons.

128 around a very very short Par 70 (5300 yards ish)

Didn't have a trolley so carried my clubs. The course is particularly hilly. I ached for a week afterwards.

My first ever round was as a 5 or 6 year old in Southern Spain where my grandparents used to live.

Have no recollection of scores.

Early recollection of scores come from early ish teens where I was shooting mid to low 80's and then it came down pretty rapid as I could get the ball out a bit further.

Ash!!

started at Royal Knightswood (actually a 9 hole muni but we called it Royal) with a mixed half set which included a wooden shafted round 8 iron (my fav club for years) and if I or any of my friends broke 60 we were ready to turn pro in our eyes:rolleyes:
Great days where the local scallywags would hide at the blind par 3 and nick your ball or you'd have to call a line of sight ruling to see the green past the abandoned and burnt out car from the night before:eek:

Happy days, long hot summers and 2 months off school summer holidays......

171 back in the late 1970s at Whetstone Golf Course when it was a 9 holer (I did play two loops, honest) and there were probably a hatful of penalty shots on top of that incurred through ignornace of the rules.

I was a self taught hacker who'd never picked up a club before, it took me ages to break throguh the 100 barrier and I'm sure I'm still un-learning some of the bad habits I formed all those years ago, not everyone can be a Bubba.

I took the game up at 40 and hit balls on the range for a few weeks before I ventured onto the course and shot 110. :)

Lost a couple of balls and couldn't chip or putt but drove the ball well as I probably hit the driver 80% of the time on the range. :o

104, at Altrincham muni. But I had played a lot at the pitch and put, in Wythenshaw park as it was only a 10min walk from home. So my short game was good, the long game was rubbish though.(so nothing changed there then).

Mine was 99 round Machrihanish back when I was about 13 or 14. The rule then - not sure if it's still in place or not - was that if a junior wanted to be able to play on the 18 hole course instead of just the 9 hole then you had to play a round with a full member and break 100.

I remember it being 130+,i had a fade of a 100 yrds, have learnt since it was a massive slice.
My dad used to take me on the course before daybreak,so i wouldnt disrupt too many
other players,i always found myself on the wrong fairway.
I was 43 years of age,lol

Shot 129 round Silverknowes Golf Course in Edinburgh, the 601 yard 18th into the wind was always a killer for a young lad.

Can remember breaking 80 round there for the first time and thinking I'd cracked this game ;)

cant remember my first score but i can remeber the first time i beat my dad at matchplay. i was 15 at the time. it went down the last. to this day ive no idea if he let me win. knowing him though id say he didnt. hes a sore loser!
