An OPEN today at my course..Individual Stableford...1st time ive played there in nearly 4 weeks.....my 1st comp there this season......max hcap 20 for the comp (off 22 normally ) nice weather sunshine most of time.

Shot 38 points (would be 40 points off normal hcap ) Gross 89 Net 67(off my normal h'cap).....3 pars 13 bogeys 1 double 1 triple (3 off the tee drat ) felt very consistent all the way through apart from dodgy driving at times........and no 3 putts..until the 18th!!!.....drat..other downside was missed a lot of under 6 foot par chances...anyway..feels like proper golf started today......wonder if I might get a cut?.........WELL HAPPY.

Cheers

Well done on the solid start to your season.

I've played in a mid-week stableford at our club today. I play off 20.3, I shot a gross 85! (par 73). 44 points! I should get a 2.4 cut to 17.9. Not a bad start to the season.

What a round. I went out in 39 shots (25 points). I shot back to back birdies and nothing above a six on my card. 24 months ago I started playing this incredible sport and I'm starting to see the fruits of my labour, long may it continue!

Great start to the Season l would think you would get a minimum 1.2 cut.

louise/sawtooth.............thanks

I am not sure whether I will get a cut.....part of my thinking is lack of full knowledge on the stableford/SSS/CSS situation etc.

My gross was 89....5 under for the course par of 72(net 67)......but the SSS is 69 and if CSS is being used today? dont no what that is until results are out.............but my 89 strokes wont count anyway will they as its Stableford?.....It will be my 38 points that count (would be 40 off 22 hcap ) and i'm not sure how that works again?.......par is 36,off 22 would be 40, thats 4 under and within the buffer to not get a cut?

Anyway I am not too concerned if no cut, just very happy to have played very well in 1st comp

Cheers Kev

Well done mate........thats an absolutely superb game and score for you today. You must have outstanding chance of winning the comp.I went OUT in 7 over 8 bogeys and 1 par.............came IN on 10 over.....2 bad holes....the 10th par 3 I topped my tee shot into a tiny pool of water unplayable and triple bogeyed for no points..............and at the 18th another bad tee shot on a par 3 left me on the edge of green(wedged onto green 2nd shot) 30 foot putt and with 1st putt I hit the ground 1st before the ball and messed the putt up leaving around 15 footer for a 2 pointer. My putt missed the pin by inches, ended up as my only 3 putt of the day.

So the 2 very bad tee shots cost me dearly.

Both holes I got 2 shots on I parred,two 4 pointers there.

Thanks for the kind words. Funny old game isn't it. Both of us had great rounds but I walked off thinking about the 2/3 shots that got away and the couple of putts that lipped out! and it sounds like you are in the same frame of mind.

I assumed you were playing off the whites, which I thought had a SSS of 71 (par 72)
