Well, a mixed day today.

Went down to my club's "Sunday Club" for the 1st time..Good chance to meet some of the guys at the club and managed to get a card in for my handicap. My thoughts:

Handicap card was utterly rubbish. Shot 28 over and my putting/short game let me down more than anything. Hit some good shots, but lost count with the amount of 3 putts I made. More time needed with the V-Easy methinks. ;)

Positives were that the R11 behaved itself - I was still slicing it, but kept most, if not all the drives in play. Made a par on the hardest hole on the course and met some great people.

I got ripped to shreds by most of the other 28 guys for having a white headed driver :D and being the new guy, got ribbed all day, nothing I couldn't handle though.

Not a bad day in all, disappointed with the golf, but a good day out.

Well look on the bright side. At least the only way is down in regaards the other handicap cards and that you've become "known" at the lcub both of which are good. You parred the hardest hole and know where the problems are. You even got to use your new toy too. Not a bad result

Bloody cold today though mate !!!1

Too right! Warmed up for the last 3 holes though!

Homer - you're right. I'm not too down on it. I know I can drop at least 10 shots just around the green if I stop being a bellend.

They only use the lowest one anyway aztecs ;) So just do better in the next 2. Or you'll be a right bandit! Oh and all triple bogeys or more, IF you had any, get reduced to doubles.

Sounds like a case of nerves but either way one down and experienced gained. ;)

If it was nerves, I didn't feel it. Just felt inconsistent all day, more down to not being totally confident with my new swing yet I think.

Everybody's been there and done their first round at your new club. Bright side is by parring the hardest hole the potential is there, that plus you will rip up the comps with a high handicap.
I have just got the burner 2.0 and am dreading the stick i get next Saturday when I pull it out on the first and hook it on to the 12th fairway!!!! :D

Az, Just get out for the next 2 cards and play like you know you can, trust in what you got and the scores will come !!!

Got 3 weeks until I can next get out so I should be a bit more consistent with my swing by then.

Onwards and upwards!

Onwards and downwards, hopefully! :D

When you first join, it's just a case of taking part. The scores will come as will the friendships.

Enjoy.

Two points. Don't expect 28 handicap at forum Meets, and expect a lot more ribbing. :D :D :D

Bah! :D

Aztecs you just keep up with the 'dodgy' scores because if MikeH picks us for the Volvo champs better ball we could be alright.... ;)

At least you had a white driver to get ribbed mate i'm getting ribbed for not having a white driver, fed up of getting crap about it. :(

Good to hear you're settling in at your new club Jon, the handicap cards will get better. Probably a bit of nerves?

Cheers Steve.

As I said above (do keep up ;)), if it was nerves, I certainly wasn't aware of it (except on the 1st tee, with about 15 of the boys watching, having just given me alot of sh1te for my "white stick" - last thing I wanted to do was top it, but luckily I hit it pretty well) and maybe it was sub-concious, who knows...I know they'll get better though. I just expect alot from myself. Give the new swing a couple more weeks on the range to ingrain itself and I'm sure the scores will tumble.
