Played after work in the mid week medal. Started at 8.4 and fully expected to get to 9 after having carded 20 straight qualifying rounds without breaking 80.

Sure enough 2 doubles and a bogie in the 1st 4 holes saw me at 5 over and staring 9 straight in the face when somehow I found some form and was still only 6 over after 16. A silly bogie on the SI 18 par 3 17th took the edge off my comeback but finished with a par for a 7 over 78.

Not spectacular by any means but a welcome return to some form and if it wasn't for those pesky doubles would have been looking at a handsome cut.

Waiting for the CSS but should get a 0.2 cut to keep Mr 9 at bay for at least 3 more rounds.

Really pleased with my putting and even managed an eagle!!!

Don't want to tempt fate but it feels like a corner has been turned... :D

Well done Rick, I've had the same sort of problem for the last few comps, had 4 0.1's back. Managed to shoot two net 73 in the club champs at the weekend which were both in the buffer zone so hopefully the tide has started to turn for me to.

Nice one Rick. First of many more hopefully.

Although slightly higher than you, I was doing the same thing bouncing around 10 and 11 but as soon as I found a little bit of form and got a couple of cuts in succession it tumbled, so I'm a firm believer in the 'corner being turned' theory.

Thanks for the comments guys..........that's it now for medals until I get back from holiday. Club Championships are on 3rd & 4th Sept so need to carry the form into the most important weekend of the year......

Well done mate! Sounds good. ;)

I find I can do the opposite of this really well. About six years ago, I started a medal round at Devils Dyke GC with birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie. (3 par 5's in first 4 holes BTW) It is par 72 and I signed for an 81! :D

Well done mate.

I guess this means the JPX's aren't up for sale just yet then? ;)

You want a go on my MP-53 and I want a go on Ricks JPX on the 31st :D

If it happens I do hope that feel like c***!

Good round Rick

Ive become a bit of a Buffer King in the last 2 years, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory on too many occasions, so looking for a similar corner to round myself !!
Bring on Sunday :D

CSS went up 1 resulting in a 0.4 cut and 2nd place so very happy!!!!! :D

So in some of the best weather of the year, CSS went up?

In some ways the recent dry weather can make it more difficult - funny bounces, greens not holding etc. - and strong winds can also have an effect. The CSS at our course has been mostly -1 but some days it has gone the other way.

I know how frustrating it can be to keep on getting put up 0.1 each time, last year was like it and the start of this year has also been like it but when you start finding form the game can be easy, maybe this is a turning point for you Rick. I have come down a whole shot to 3.6 now and there is no reason why you cant do the same
