My how time flies, 50 years ago I was a spotty teenager cheering on England against the Western half of Germany.
Great team, Martin Peters was my favourite player, and a fantastic manager in Alf Ramsay.

Padbrat living in Germany watching the match in the Mess with pops and the RSM and a big crowd who later thought it very appropriate to visit a local beir keller after to celebrate . Much fun had by half the bar at least.

Still think that apart from being at Wembley I was in the 2nd best place to watch it.

Living in Solihull watched the match with my Dad, neighbour and my best mate.

Woke up the next morning in the back of my mate's Mini van in Banbury. To this day we have no idea how or why. (We were hungover BTW)

I can only imagine the buzz of the nation being such a young pup :) :)

Brazil stayed in the Hotel at the end of my road. They had a celebration this year and all the memorabilia owned by locals were loaned to the hotel. Was pretty cool seeing photos of Pele etc. My old man and his mates went to watch them train most days and there were hundreds there within spitting distance of the players.

Also, Pickles the dog found the World Cup (Jules Rimet Trophy) only a stones throw from the school I went to!

I'm just back from a weekend in the smoke where we went and had a tour of Wembley. They don't half push the '66 thing. (The tour was far too rushed and done by a Scotsman!!! I think we had a bad guide. Other groups seemed to be buzzing and got to shout around the stadium from a certain point, I'm not sure what that was about but we didn't)

Will 2003 be remembered in the same way?

I certainly won't forget 2003, 1966 was a long time before I was born so it's really hard to relate to. Also not being a soccer fan I can't really understand it other than the national pride of course!

It will be in our house. Our extended family were all at our house and watched it together. Pandemonium at the final whistle and we broke out the champagne.

More importantly, more son was born 48 hours later and naturally, was named Jonny.

I can remember it happening and I think I watched - I certainly remember the cup being lost and Pickles finding it - as far as England winning - I don't recall being that bothered one way or the other.
