That's right guys, I've lost 17 balls in my last 3 rounds. Its safe to say I'm struggling with my consistency just lately. Too many shots missing fairways, going through greens, poor ball striking, hitting off line.

This years been a bit of struggle getting back into golf after the winter, I finished Uni in May, so my spring was took up with preparing for my final project, exhibitions etc, so I hardly got down to the range to get practice in. I'm still without any permanent work so money has been tight too, again prompting me to miss out on range sessions and just relying on my swing when I turn up for a round.

Anybody got any tips or drills I can use on the range to get my game back to something fairly reliable (what I had last summer, playing some of my best golf), it would be appreciated!

Cheers :one:

Lessons. Boring (and repetitive I know) but a couple of lessons with a PGA pro will get your fundamentals straight again. Work on the drills you might get and just stick with it. Winter isn't too far away and a chance to get it sorted and come back out of the blocks in 2016

Lessons will put you on the straight and narrow. I had the same problem of getting it up in the air and hitting it pretty well, but having poor distance and line control, and the pro told me it was my club face control and ball position. He explained and gave me some things to remember, and there was a massive improvement, and I'd definitely recommend some lessons. Once you know the basics, and get to know what works for you, you can work on your game yourself, without a pro, and you know how to correct your errors.

If your ball striking is unreliable, a 6 iron might go 170 yards struck well, 150 yards struck average, and 130 yards struck badly. That's the difference between being short of a green and going over the top. And then there's the line to consider! A good pro will see where you're going wrong, and start to tighten up your line and length, and improve your accuracy.

I suppose the amount of balls you use could depend on your course. A course near me seems to be more water than land (water comes into play on 14 holes), with "Links" style rough, and a good player can lose a fair few. A high handicapper can expect to lose a lot more!
