Par 3, 130 yards, out of bounds 20 yards behind the green. I hit a nice gentle 9 iron. Absolutely creamed it, flew high and straight, over the green and way out of bounds. Looked down at the club in my hand in disbelief to find myself staring at my 6 iron.......3 off the tee!:o
Anyone ever done it?

Yep. And in reverse when I needed a six and pulled a 9 out.

 my god. The length of club and just looking at much loft is on the face should have given the game away.

i once saw some one hit a 2 hybrid instead of the 5 he thought, from 175 yards on the 18th at Tain. it bounced on the roof twice before ending up on the green.

Once hit a SW straight up into the branches of a tree that I was trying to play a little punch underneath. 5, S, they look the same don't they on the sole of a club? Now that one you really would have thought I'd have noticed the loft

I hit my driver once instead of my putter! what a blinking idiot I felt after 'putting' 235 yards:swing:

I did this is reverse a few months back. Went to hit my 6 off the tee. Wondered why it went so high without travelling until I put it back in the bag...

Can't recall doing this except a close call when a caddy put my clubs back in the wrong place and I lifted PW instead of SW but noticed before hitting

Irons are normally placed so that consecutive numbers are at opposite sides of the bag

Have almost done this but noticed before i played the shot. Although my near mistake was involving other clubs than the 6 and 9 irons!
Mind you, i tonk a 9 iron almost 160 anyway.

Twice in 2 rounds. Hit my 9 iron sweetly only for it to come up 30 yards short of the green.

This was during a time hen I was going through a lot of swing changes and not concentrating on the small matter of picking up the right club.

I done something similar it a team match. I was 1 down, I was just behind the 150 yard marker, slightly uphill to the green and into a slight breeze. So I pulled my 6i and thought nice and easy to hit middle of the green.

Hit it perfectly and was quite happy, then the manager of the team started shouting get down get down as the ball flew the green and end up in neighbouring gardens.

Turned out I was just behind the 100 yard marker and was also now 2 down!

It was really funny right enough. More attention to the markers required.

Done it 3 times - twice 9 when wanting 6.

I can actually remember each shot! The 'Pelz' 10:30 with the 6 was an absolutely sweet shot that simply airmailed the green!

You should have gone to Specsavers

Similar story in that a few weeks ago I mistook a 100yd marker for a 150yd marker. I absolutely nailed the shot, stood back to admire it and watched it sail over the green and onto the road running behind it. One bounce and onwards it went. Thankfully there were no cars going past at the time. Concentrate, concentrate, concentrate. I really must.......
